He only cares about revenge. Until he meets her.

A widow after only one year of marriage, Lady Roysa chooses to run to her sister, Idalia, who is wintering at Dromsley Castle, rather than retreat to the property granted to her. What she doesn't realize is that Idalia and her new husband have a secret—they are part of a rebellion against the king, as is their gruff host at Dromsley Castle.

The last thing Terric Kennaugh wishes for is a guest, let alone one who seems more concerned about fashion than the Order of the Broken Blade's rebellion against King John. He may be more of a Scot than an Englishman, but the English royals have a long history of doing his family wrong. He won't miss his chance at revenge, especially not by the poorly timed arrival of a pampered English miss. Even so, Idalia is as good as a sister to him, and he cannot refuse shelter to a member of her family. To his surprise, he soon finds himself warming toward Roysa—whose beauty and stateliness are but a small part of what makes her a strong, noble woman. But love is a distraction he cannot afford if he is to have his revenge.

Dromsley Castle is about to become the first battleground in what promises to be an all-out war between the king's men and the Order. Can love bloom in the midst of so much danger?

Romance that transports...

Cecelia Mecca is the bestselling author of steamy historical romance and also writes contemporary small town romance as Bella Michaels. Armed with a Ph.D. and lots of chai, she's known for giving readers "heroines who you want to be your best friend." When these ladies meet alpha-males who try to gain control, sparks fly until the very last page. One reader says, "No one can so completely wisk you away like Cecelia."

From the 11-book Border Series, which takes readers to an admittedly romanticized time of knights and castles, and Order of the Broken Blade with its secret knightly order, to Cecelia's co-authored Scottish time travel series, Highlander's Through Time and Enchanted Falls, Cecelia loves transporting readers to another time and place. In Kingdoms of Meria, Cecelia takes readers to a place they've never been before. Her brand new series, Brotherhood of the Border, is a Border Series spin-off which takes place thirty years later.

Our Highlander-loving author can be found in Northeast, Pennsylvania thinking up new ways to tame both medieval and contemporary bad boys. She is firmly House Stark and Gryffindor and loves all things fantasy, especially when tinged with a bit of steamy romance.

The Scot: A Forbidden Love Medieval Romance (Order of The Broken Blade Book 3) by Cecelia Mecca.
“Outstanding new series has everything I look for in historical romance! I couldn’t put it down!”
Terric is one of the four original members of the Order of the Broken Blade, bound by oath to end King John’s tyranny. But, for Terric it’s personal and he awaits to exact his revenge for the crimes against his sister and the rest of his family.
Lady Roysa had been married to her abusive husband for one miserably long year when her brutish brother-in-law comes to give her the news her husband is dead, and she has 40 days to vacate the castle for the dowager home. With the troubling and nonchalant way the new Baron coldly told her of his brother’s death and with the rumors below stairs saying it was his brother who killed him, Roysa knew her life was most likely in danger too. With no time to send word, Roysa ran to where her sister’s last letter had said her and new husband had been staying, to seek asylum and safety. With war looming, now is not the time for Terric to have to be distracted by his best friends sister-in-law, the very irritatingly beautiful and snobby widow, Lady Roysa. Lady Roysa hates to have to ask for protection from the rude, arrogant, and self important man with his two titles, but it’s too dangerous to leave the castle so she will have to make due around the insufferably handsome man.
This engaging storyline is beautifully written with drama, steamy romance, and a great cast of characters! I recommend this book to everyone who loves a great historical storyline with a witty dialogue, strong characters, and a steamy pressure cooking romance.
Happy Reading♥️
Adult Content: Steamy explicit open bedroom scenes (4-5 flames).

I was so looking forward to reading Terric and Roysa's story and Cecelia Mecca did not disappoint. I swear, this series just keeps getting better and better, if that's possible!!

The Order of the Broken Blade continue their rebellion against King John and as a siege or a battle appears to be on the horizon for Dromsley Castle, it's up to Terric to decide what the plan will be. Amidst all of this, Roysa arrives at the castle, much to his consternation, and no matter how much he fights his attraction to her, it's a losing battle. She, in turn, a recent widow and never wanting to be ruled by a man again, cannot help her attraction to him either!!

This was so well written and I loved seeing characters from the previous books again. Lots of action and adventure, as well as heated passions, will keep you from wanting to put the book down until it's finished!

I was given an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I was really intrigued by this medieval take on enemies to lovers book. While it is a cliche concept, the growth Terric and Roysa experience through their journey from dislike to love was well crafted. Terric and Roysa both brought out and strengthen the qualities they had lost due to their misfortunes.

I enjoyed that while they did fall in love , neither lost their established personalities, which tends to happen in most books when characters admit their love for each other. This unnecessary event usually throws the whole plot out the window and causes the book to lose substance. Thankfully, that was not the case for Roysa and Terric.

While the orders' cause is noble, it's nice to see that they learn they can prevent themselves from being consumed by war. The developed relationships so far have been very entertaining to watch unfold. Can't wait to see what is in store for The Earl.

Another enjoyable instalment in this series. It is Terric’s turn to find love and it comes in the form of Roysa, Idalia’s sister. They dislike each other on sight so their relationship has an inauspicious beginning. Danger is closing in around them so they have to decide to take a chance on one another. In this book, the Order of the Broken Blade meets its greatest challenge from King
John yet.

I really like Terric and Roysa. They make a good couple. With each book the balance between plot and romance is really well done. Very excited for the last book in the series. I already had some ideas and I’m glad I was right!

The Scot is the third book in the Order of the Broken Blade series by Cecelia Mecca. It can easily be read as a standalone story but if you haven't read the first two books in the series you really should. Not because it is necessary but because they are really wonderful plus you get to learn the stories of two other members of the Order of the Broken Blade.

The Scot is Terric Kennaugh's story. He is a firm believer in the cause to stop King John's tyranny. but for him, it is more personal and a matter of revenge over something that happened to his sister. Terric is both an English Lord and a Scottish Chief, a powerful man who has been hurt in love before and since then has been content to give relationships a wide birth.

Lady Roysa finds out from her brother-in-law that her husband of just one year is dead. He was an abusive man, nothing like the man she thought he was when she thought herself in love with him before their wedding. It's a sense of relief rather than grief that she feels at the news of his demise. Unfortunately, it becomes apparent that rather than an accidental death, her husband may have been killed by his brother. Fearing for her own life Roysa runs to her sister for safety. She and her husband are residing with Terric temporarily.

Terric and Roysa's first meeting wasn't a pleasant one and although they would secretly admit to at least themselves that they found each other attractive, they really thought little of each other. Terric came across as harsh and uncaring, Roysa came across as spoilt and arrogant. Thankfully it soon becomes apparent that they both had the wrong end of the stick about each other and instead of fighting each other they find themselves fighting to keep out of each others arms!

Their budding attraction and romance was a delight to read, but what makes this book extra special is the dilemma Terric faces deciding the best way to keep his home and people safe from King John's forces. One way will help him get his revenge but might end with great losses, the other ensures greater safety for his people but at the cost of his revenge. Revenge is what has kept him going for years, finally having the opportunity to get it could cloud his mind from making the right choices for his people. Waiting to see what he chooses and the effects from that choice made this book a real page-turner.

I love Terric and Roysa, they are perfect for each other even if they don't realise it at first. Their fight to keep away from each other and the utter relief when they occasionally gave way and found themselves in passionate clinches was amazing. Cecelia Mecca can write very passionate scenes even without people having to get undressed. But when they do find themselves naked, well steam practically rises from the pages!! Steamy, but not crude, just the way I like my bedroom scenes to be written.

The scenes between King John's men and Terric's forces and allies were very moving and very fast-paced. From one minute 'til the next, I never knew who would come out the victor especially during one scene where Terric faces the enemy alone. But I am saying no more, spoilers can ruin a book for others and I definitely don't want to do anything to put you off reading this one. I loved this book and the previous two in the series, I cannot wait to read the next one.

Lady Roysa is relieved to find herself widowed after only a year of disastrous marriage. Given the foul play she suspects, however, she decides to flee rather than remove herself to her downer lands and seeks safety with her sister, Idalia, at Dromsley Castle. She receives a rude awakening when she arrives and learns that her sister has also been keeping secrets and that she and her husband, along with the lord of Dromsley Castle, are key players in a treasonous rebellion against the King of England.

Lord Terric Kennaugh, both the English Earl of Dromsley and Scottish Chief of Clan Kennaugh, has enough responsibilities to worry about without adding a new guest to the mix. Especially one so beautiful and apparently more concerned with her appearance than the precarious position of the rebellion. While Terric considers himself a Scot more so than an Englishman, the English royal family has wronged his family many times over the years and he longs for revenge above all else. He refuses to be distracted by the beautiful, spoiled newcomer, though he cannot refuse her stay since she considers her sister, Idalia, to be family.

Terric is shocked to find himself thawing toward the noble Lady Roysa but berates himself for his distraction as Dromsley prepares for the first battle in what promises to soon be a full-scale war between the rebels of the Order of the Broken Blade and those loyal to the king. In the midst of such strife it seems impossible for love to have a chance to grow, especially if Terric can't see past his lifelong quest for revenge.

I really did not care for Roysa at first (and neither did Terric), but she grow on me, especially when she was willing to admit her faults and assumptions and reevaluate her thinking. Terric was a well-drawn dark and broody hero with some surprisingly charming insecurities. Until this point his adult life has been consumed by his need to have revenge on the English royal family and it was nice to see him grow and learn that some things are more important. Roysa was a great match for Terric once she opened herself up to the possibility of happiness.

This book was very fast-paced and the constant threat of danger kept my attention and was also just the wake up call Terric and Roysa needed to come together as they both knew they should be. This was another excellent installment in a series I've come to love. I hate to see it ending but now, especially after seeing more of Terric's sister, Cait, I can't wait for the next book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Scot
Order of the Broken Blade #3
Cecelia Mecca
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lady Roysa is a widow after only one year of marriage and what a horrible mirage it was. Lady Roysa decides to run to her sister Idalia, who is wintering at Dromsley Castle rather then go on to her property that was granted to her and her husband Sir Lance. What Lady Roysa doesn’t realize is that her sister Idalia and her new husband have a big secret, a secret that that can all get them killed and for treason no less. They are a part of a rebellion against the king, as is their gruff host at Dromsely Castle.

Terric Kennaugh is that gruff host and the last thing he wishes for is another guest, especially one who is more concerned more about fashion than the order of the Broken Blade’s rebellion against king John or so it seems, but looks can be deceiving.

Terric is more Scot than an Englishman, but the English have a long history of doing his family wrong. There is no way on this earth that he is going to miss his chance for revenge, especially not by the poorest timing of a pampered miss. Idalia is as good as a flesh and blood sister to him, and he cannot refuse shelter to a member of her family.

To Terric and Roysa they soon find themselves warming to each other. Terric is a known leader and Roysa is a beautiful, strong, noblewoman who any man would be lucky to have.

Dromsley Castle is about to become the first battleground in what promises to be an all out war between the kings men and the order.

Love is a distraction Terric can’t afford if he is to have his revenge, but can love bloom in the mist of so much danger?

Cecelia Mecca you are absolutely brilliant. It was that Terric and Roysa didn’t really like each other at first and slowly started to warm to each other and then got closer and closer having feelings for eachother that turned into something special ending up in love was so heart warming. Another marriage for the order of the broken blade in two people that swore high and low they would never get married due to past hurts. Ms. Mecca you are amazing and i can’t  wait to see what you come up with us next.

This is the third book in this wonderful series, it could be read on its own but to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading the series in order. Another very well written book featuring strong characters who had plenty of depth. The pace never lags & I was drawn in from the start & gripped until the end. I loved how Terric & Roysa took an immediate dislike of each other as they were too intent on drawing on past experiences even though there was an instant physical attraction. However the more time they spent together the more they both realised first impressions can be deceiving. I also loved the underlying tensions, which have been building throughout the series. There were a couple of unresolved issues regarding Roysa’s brother in law - I wanted him to have his comeuppance. I’m now looking forward to the final book in the series.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This series keeps getting better and better! This was my favorite book so far! Could not put it down until the end!
An enemy to lovers book that captivated me with the main characters fiery chemistry. Terric, a Scottish clan chief and English earl, is determined to have revenge for his sister and isn’t in need of a distraction or wife.
Roysa, Idalia’s sister from The Blacksmith, is widowed and never really knew of love and passion. She fled her dead husband’s home in a rush in order to remain alive.
Terric and Roysa start out hating each other but are soon not only attracted to each other physically but also emotionally. The story also involves the ongoing treasonous conflict that the broken blade order is currently fighting for, the harsh taxes by the king are causing suffering for the people of England. So they need to either have the king change his policies or overthrow him. Which could mean many battles to be fought.
This third book in the series is phenomenal. I loved it! I am really looking forward to The Earl as that is my favorite trope ever!

I have really enjoyed Mecca's Order of the Broken Blade series! In this third book, we find Roysa running in the cold from her wicked brother-in-law after he reports her husband has been killed in an accident. But rumor has it that Walter was killed by his brother for sleeping with his brother's wife, which Roysa has every reason to believe. She arrives at Castle Dromsley where her sister, Idalia, and husband are staying with the Earl, Terric Kennaugh. Roysa has no idea they are part of the Order of the Broken Blade in traitorous rebellion against the English king. The pages flip swiftly as Lord Terric and Lady Roysa both have excellent reasons to scoff at attractive members of the opposite sex but eventually, come to enjoy each others' company. And Roysa gets a kiss and begins to believe there is pleasure to be found in marriage? But secret missions cause separation and sorrow, and war causes death. Will these two be able to come together in love? A really good story. I can't wait for the next book from Mecca!

Chronique de Diana :

https://followthereader2016.wordpress...

Je me demande quelle compagne l’auteure lui réserve.

3.5 Stars (4 enjoy Maureen Driscoll, Elisa Braden)

I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series)

Order of the Broken Blade (4 book series). I would recommend reading the books in order as the series tells a story and won’t make much sense reading the series out of order or reading one book alone.

this is the first time I’ve read Cecelia Mecca. I’ll probably read other series by her, just not in any ‘reading’ hurry to do it now.

Order of the Broken Blade:
The development and interest in main characters and secondary characters was enjoyable. I really did like all the H/H for each book; very well paired as couples.

writing style is easy to follow, humorous moments, the give and take dialogue enjoyable.

All 4 books followed pretty much the same level of romance; a few kisses, around half way through book 1 or 2 oral scenes and 2/3 love making. All written rather quick no major description (i had to go back to see if i missed some pages lol).

I thinks i’d rate this book all around PG 14.

Roysa has just learned that her husband of one year has died. She soon hears that her BIL had a hand in her death. Roysa is fearful for her life. Instead of traveling to the property she is promised in her late husband's will, she goes to her sister who is wintering at Dromsley Castle. Upon her arrival, she encounters the owner of the property. They take an instant dislike for one another.

Terric doesn't need a pampered lady living in his home, but since she is the sister of his best friend's wife, he has no choice but allow her to stay. Even though he finds himself attracted to Roysa, he needs to keep his mind on the rebellion that the Order of the Broken Blade has started. He doesn't have room in his life to start a romance. But as they spent more time together, he finds it harder and harder to stay away from Roysa.

Can Terric find his HEA with Roysa and still continue the fight that the order has started?

I loved this latest addition to the Order of the Broken Blade series! Both Roysa and Terric have reasons for staying away from the other, but can't seem to fight their attraction for one another. I loved watching them fall in love!! I can't wait for the final book in the series!! Although I'll be sad that the series is over...

And the plot thickens!

This series is captivating and I love each and every character! The fact that Terric is a twin could have made this one portion of the story into a saga and oh that I wish it had! Thank goodness his sister Cait arrived when she did to help him see things more clearly. There should have been more written about Terrics's experience with his mission across the bridge to give us more depth to him and his character. This portion of the story left me a little disappointed. I would also have enjoyed more character development for Roysa. The story would have been so much better had we gotten to know her more. I enjoyed the overall love story of Terric and Lady Roysa but felt cheated that their characters were glossed over so much. Make the books longer to give the characters their due justice.

Another great story!

The Order of the Broken Blade continues to grow....but could Terric succumb to love like his fellow members? Lady Roysa seems to ensure his thoughts on love not being for him. But as they get to know one another they realize how much they are alike.....and the attraction becomes harder to ignore.

“The Scot” is another great read following the actions of the friends who have joined in fighting against the King of England. They all fight for their lives to be free of a ruler who is trying to destroy them. Cecelia has done another excellent job weaving the lives of her characters along the history of the time period. Makes you feel like you are there watching history in the making.

Loved the story

Roysa the lady of Stokesay Castle, married to Lord Walter for less than a year. Her husband is killed in a hunting accident but instead finds out he was killed by his brother Lord Langham. She decides instead of moving to the dower house, Horton Manor she was going to go to Dromsley Castle where her sister Idalia and her husband were. She feared that Lord Langham planned on getting rid of her also.

Terric, Earl of Dromsley Castle was preparing for what he feared, a battle with King John. When Roysa arrived at the gate she comes face to face with Lord Terric and each had a hatred for each other, but things change.

It's a thin line between love and hate

Roysa intensely disliked Terric at first sight! Terric thought her beautiful but vain and much too concerned with her appearance! Quickly they realized that the first impressions were not correct at all! Roysa was a recent widow from a terrible abusive husband! Terric did not trust beautiful women and vowed never to trust another! The threat of war and a siege can not keep this love from growing between them! Will ongoing conflicts tear them apart or pull them together?

Very enjoyable third romance and continuation of the series

It was fun to meet Idalia's sister, Roysa, and grow to know and like her more and more. Of course, the same goes for Terric, the third man (of the original four in the Order of the Broken Blade) that we've come to know and appreciate. Roysa's and Terric's love story is beautifully detailed. The Order's request to negotiate new laws with the king, limiting his power to tax the people, is rejected and their war with him begins.

Superb

I love this series! This book was a fabulous addition. Terric and Roysa are well-written, strong, and loveable characters. This book was interesting enough that I did not put it down. I liked them immediately and was thrilled that Lance and Idalia were present in this book as well. Rory and Cait were a nice surprise and I look forward to the next book. Somehow I feel Cait will be an important character in Conrad's story.

Some like it ... Scot

Terric has approximately 99 problems, and Lady Roysa just pushed it over 100. His best friend's sister in law, the widowed Lady was escaping for her life. Now was not the time to become overset with a beautiful woman who had a heart inside that frosty face. However, Roysa is simply another word for stubborn.

I can't wait for Conrad's story. Perhaps we finally learn about Cait as well.... ❤❤❤❤❤

A Scot

Order of the Broken Blade book three is an altogether different story than the first two. Maybe because Terric was a Scot. He has to uphold the title of Earl in England and the Clan title as Chief in Scotland. He just wasn't certain about a disdainful he met the widow Roysa.

Love this series

Just wow. This series is amazing. Each book sucks you in to a world of past times. Each chapter helps you understand each character more and more until you finally understand them as a person and all they went through to become who they are as an individual as well as someone in love. Highly recommended. But start with book 1 for the best experience

I don't know I did not like it that much 😐 no strong chemistry between hero and heroine as it should be there. Everything was happening quickly. To me it looked liked novella. I didn't find heroine strong enough or didn't find anything special about her same for hero I didn't find him as historical heroes should be.

It was a little jumpy and disconnected at times. The story was a good one, but this did detract some.
