Equity in maternity care - lessons from MBRRACE-UK

Maternal death rates in the UK are at their highest levels in almost 20 years. This learning module highlights key lessons for healthcare professionals from MBRRACE-UK confidential enquiries, with a focus on equity in care for pregnant and postnatal women.

1 CPD hour

This learning module, based on a series of reports from the MBRRACE-UK confidential enquiries, discusses learning points to improve the care of pregnant women, with a focus on tackling health inequalities. This module forms part of MIMS Learning’s Targeting Health Inequalities campaign, which aims to highlight practical ways in which healthcare professionals can address health inequalities in their clinical practice.

Educational objectives

After completing this module, healthcare professionals should be better able to:

  • Outline the findings of the MBRRACE-UK Maternal Mortality Surveillance and Confidential Enquiry Report for 2023.
  • Recall the findings of the MBRRACE-UK Perinatal Confidential Enquiry reports, comparing the care of Asian, Black and White women who have experienced a stillbirth or neonatal death.
