When Winter cedes to Spring at last,
She leaves a wreck behind:
A disarray, a muddled hash,
The two of them entwined.
She fights for Spring to let her stay;
She doesn’t want to go away…
She fights for Spring
She fights for Spring

’Til, finally, she must make way.

When Spring arises from the bed
Where Winter lies o’ercome,
She walks the earth her seed to spread
Until her work is done,
And then she fades into the heat
Of Summer’s sultry bittersweet…
And then she fades
And then she fades

For, in her turn, she must retreat.

But Winter waits, quiet, serene,
’Til Autumn comes around.
She paints her face behind the scenes
And makes ready her gown.
She takes the stage at Autumn’s Fall,
A solo act ’til curtain call.
She takes the stage
She takes the stage
And waits for the belle of the ball.
