Pam Bondi announces charges against New York state officials over immigration: 'You're next'
By Lauren Peacock,
2025-02-12Pam Bondi has announced that the Department of Justice is suing the state of New York and more, saying : "New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today."
Pam Bondi has declared that the Department of Justice has filed charges against the state of New York , New York Governor Katy Hochul and State Attorney General Leticia James for allegedly refusing to enforce federal immigration laws.
"As you know we sued Illinois, and New York didn't listen. So now, you're next," Bondi continued on.
In addition, the lawsuit was also filed against Mark Schroeder, New York's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) commissioner.

The DOJ lawsuit against New York state concerns the Green Light law that allow undocumented migrants to get driver’s licenses, preventing immigration officials from accessing DMV records without warrant.
"Our state laws, including the Green Light law, protect the rights of all New Yorkers and keep our communities safe," James said in a statement Wednesday night. "I am prepared to defend our laws."
Bondi made the announcement at her first press conference as Trump's attorney general .
"Millions of illegal aliens with violent records have flooded into our communities bringing violence and deadly drugs with them," she added.
Bondi then brought up an "Angel Mom", Tammy Nobles, who lost her daughter Kayla Hamilton to crimes committed by an illegal immigrant.
"Kayla Hamilton was murdered by an MS- 13 member in 2022. Kayla had just turned 20-years-old, just turned 20-years-old, and she was raped and murdered by someone who should not have been in our country. Yet, he was released, flown to Maryland, where he committed this violent murder," Bondi explained.
An "Angel Mom" refers to a parent whose child was killed by an illegal immigrant.
Bondi explained that Tammy was there not only to represent herself and her family but other "Angel Moms" while placing blame on the Biden Administration.
"Tammy represents not only herself and her family but all of the great Angel Moms around this country who have suffered because of what the Biden Administration did and it is over," Bondi said.
This isn't the first time the Trump administration has worked with "Angel Moms".
In 2016, Donald Trump brought up a group of "Angel Moms" to his podium at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona.
Tammy Nobles called out the Biden administration on Fox News in 2023, blaming their policies for her daughter's death.
"If there was a more secured border and individuals coming here was properly vetted, my daughter would still be alive today," Nobles said. "They let her down."
President Trump praised Bondi after she was sworn in as attorney general last week, saying: "I want to congratulate Pam, she's worked hard, so hard."
"Unbelievably fair and Unbelievably good at law...congratulations," he added.
Trump even also complimented Bondi's spouse John Wakefield, saying: "'I just want to introduce her very, very handsome husband. I hate being around him. He looks too good."
Bondi, 59, was endorsed as Supreme Court Justice by a 54-46 Senate vote, with Justice Clarence Thomas administering her oath.

'Grotesque' homeless hotel, snarled traffic on Pena discussed during Denver council public comment
Denver’s homeless hotels and clogged traffic on Pena Boulevard dominated the public comment period Monday during the City Council meeting. Homeless advocate Ana Miller told the council the conditions at the former Best Western homeless hotel on Quebec, one of many such hotels owned by the city, are “Absolutely grotesque … worse than most poorly run prisons ....(I’m) tired of hearing things are fixed. When you’re done using (a hotel) it will need to be completely gutted for habitation again. I want the council to look into these conditions and do something about it. Push for better oversight of how they’re running their shelters.”
