Poland Hosts 10th Annual Conversion Therapy Conference
Will sexual orientation change efforts ever end?
Conversion Therapy is going strong
Despite many bans on conversion therapy and sexual orientation change efforts (SOGE), these practices just won’t die. Unfortunately, most bans do not apply to religious pastors and ministers, and many conservative evangelical Christians believe that practicing SOGE is a good thing.
The reasons why conservative Christians believe this are complicated and multi-faceted, and I laid them out here:
As long as evangelical Christians continue to believe that non-heterosexual sexual activity is sinful, they will continue to try to find a way to “heal” those they deem “broken” in this way. It doesn’t matter how many laws are passed to ban the practice. It doesn’t matter how many peer-reviewed scientific studies denounce it. They see it as their duty mandated by God and they will not stop. To stop would be a sin in their eyes for they are called to save the world.
This month, October 2024, conversion therapists from all over the world are descending on Poland for their annual conference.
Organised by London-based International Foundation for Therapeutic and Counselling Choice (IFTCC), delegates from 28nations will hear from 29 global speakers how to provide client-centered therapy which does not affirm sexuality, or gender, as a person’s core Identity. — anglican.ink
The International Foundation for Therapeutic and Counselling Choice (IFTCC) is a conversion therapy organization. They use the word “choice” to try to put a kind veneer on their homophobic and transphobic practices.
The IFTCC exists to support providers who help those experiencing unwanted relational and sexual behaviours, attractions and patterns, or are confused with their gender or wish to de-transition. — IFTCC.org
