Among several new devices, laptops, and TVs, Samsung also showcased its first AI companion, Ballie, at the CES 2024 expo in Las Vegas, USA. It was unveiled four years ago at CES 2020 but wasn't launched. However, it now looks like Samsung is close to being ready to launch Ballie, and we had a chance to check it out in action at CES 2024.

Ballie is Samsung's first AI companion for home, capable of helping you out with several tasks

Samsung's Ballie has received several design changes compared to when it was unveiled in 2020. It is now bigger and has a built-in projector. It can follow you, take voice commands, display important things on the screen, and control your smart home products. It can also make calls and find your phone when it's lost. It has a built-in AI-powered voice assistant, cameras, speakers, internet connectivity, and three wheels. Samsung showcased several instances of where it could be helpful, and you can watch it in action in our video below.

Ballie ties up with Samsung's SmartThings ecosystem to control all your compatible smart devices, including lights, refrigerators, TVs, and more. You can ask it to call a nearby store or get your calendar appointments for the day. It can help you remember special occasions, like your anniversary or your family member's birthday. It can display outside weather, alert you about your air purifier's filter replacement, display the video feed from your smart doorbell, and keep an eye on your pet while you're away.

Samsung's AI companion is also designed to help you with your workouts. For example, when you're doing crunches, it can display your vitals fetched from your Galaxy Watch on the roof. Similarly, when you're working out, it can display your calories burned, heart rate, and other metrics from your Galaxy Watch on a wall nearby. It can help with several other things, like monitoring your home and showing you a recipe video while you're cooking.

It could be the future of AI companions, but Samsung hasn't unveiled several details about Ballie. We still don't know its core specifications, camera quality, battery life, etc. Moreover, Samsung hasn't announced its availability, price, or release date yet, so we might still be a few months away from its launch.
