My top LinkedIn hack is to always have an away message on. Here are 2 reasons to always use an away message on LinkedIn + a step-by-step guide to set yours up. 1. The LinkedIn Inbox is a nightmare. It's impossible to manage because there isn't a folder system. There's no way to mark a message for later follow-up except to mark the messages as unread. 👉 Instead of stressing out about replying to messages or "managing" your inbox, just let folks know that you don't check that inbox. It doesn't mean you *can't* check it but it does mean you can feel zero obligation to reply to messages because they all got your auto-reply. 2. Use your away message to push folks to the channels you prefer. My inbox contains 3 primary messages: - SPAM (franchise, PMP certification, or 8 million meetings a month). - Folks who have never interacted with my content who have specific sales questions or who want to pick my brain. - Folks I want to correspond with. 👉 90% of the messages you get probably don't need a reply beyond an away message. Stop wasting time. Start sending an automated away message. HOW-TO: Step 1: Heading to your "messaging" tab in LinkedIn Step 2: In the upper left-hand corner you should see the word Messaging. Just to the right of it is 3 horizontal. Click on those dots. Step 3: After you click on the dots you will see a drop-down menu with 3 options on it. You're looking for the option that says "set away message." Step 4 - Set an away message! P.S. Love this idea. I may tweak my away message depending on the sender to seem more personalized. Do you ever make exceptions for certain connections to check messages?
