Posted on Oct 24, 2023 in Environmental Reporting

South African journalists interested in covering the country’s transition to net zero can attend a workshop.

Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is hosting a data journalism workshop to help journalists improve their understanding of net zero transition in South Africa. The workshop will teach journalists how to incorporate data into their work to tell impactful stories.

The workshop will be held in Johannesburg, Jan. 29 to Feb. 4, 2024.

Selected participants will engage in a combination of classroom-style study and a field trip. The journalists will have the opportunity to learn from thematic experts, engage in capacity-building and knowledge-sharing exercises, and network with peers.

In addition, journalists will learn how to access key databases and how to effectively visualize data for a variety of audiences.

The workshop is free and EJN will cover travel, accommodation and meal costs for selected participants.

The extended deadline is Oct. 30.
