Program Description:
More and more frequently, clients are asking advisors to help them use their capital to invest in ways that align with their values and priorities.

Join us as we talk to three industry experts who do just that – each with a different approach.

*This topic has been approved by the CFP Board for 1.0 hour of CE credit.

Panelists:
Doug Couden, CFA, Partner, Chief Information Officer, BakerAvenue Wealth Management
Doug is a tested market specialist with multiple cycles under his belt. He leads the firm’s multi-disciplined (technical, fundamental, and macro) investment approach including BakerAvenue’s Impact Strategy with the designation from the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing. He is a member of the firm’s executive committee and is responsible for managing the investment team, the firm’s research process, and the overall performance of the strategies. He enjoys sharing the firm’s market view with clients and external media, pens the firm’s weekly and quarterly updates, and has responsibility for individual client accounts. Doug has held analytical and managerial roles at PaineWebber, Seneca Capital and Virtus Investment Partners.

From volunteering time to the National Charities League, Sacred Heart Schools, and recreational sports, the Couden’s maintain an energetic local presence. Doug also manages BakerAvenue’s Impact strategy, which adds a socially responsible overlay to our investment approach.

Doug is quite proud of his former mullet. An avid soccer and basketball player, Doug is fond of saying his flowing locks “gave him wings back in the day”. It even helped him dunk in a high school basketball game. Once, so he says.

Casey Sullivan, CIMA, Business Development Officer, Engine 1
Casey focuses on sales efforts for the firm’s Transform Exchange Traded Funds. She has nine years of experience helping financial professionals navigate investing in ETFs. Before joining Engine No. 1, Casey spent eight years at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Over the past five years, she focused on growing JPMorgan’s ETF Business. Based in San Francisco, she worked with investment advisors on the West Coast and was responsible for promoting active and passive ETFs. Previously, she worked at State Street Global Advisors and started her career at Bloomberg. Casey received a BA in International Relations from Tufts University.

Nelli Oster, PhD, Director, ESG/SRI, Aperio
As the Director of ESG/SRI, I lead a team of highly skilled ESG/SRI experts to support clients’ growing interest in aligning their portfolios with their personal missions and values. I work closely with the business development, research, portfolio management, and marketing teams, as well as our data vendors, to develop hypercustomized ESG/SRI strategies for our clients. I also liaise with our external industry partners to further enhance our client offering, including active ownership through proxy voting and the sponsoring of ESG/SRI-related shareholder resolutions.

Prior to joining Aperio, I headed ESG and defined contribution research and product development at Wells Fargo Asset Management. I started my investment management career at Barclays Global Investors, which later merged with BlackRock, where I served as a Researcher and Portfolio Manager in the firm’s quantitative stock selection strategies, and as a Senior Investment Strategist in the Global Investment Strategy and Model Portfolio Solutions group, while also spearheading the firm’s behavioral finance research and thought leadership. Earlier in my career, I was an Equity Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs, after beginning my career in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Salomon Smith Barney.
