When I was taking punch cards to the computing center and picking up greenbar results as an undergraduate and graduate student, I never thought that computing would be my career -- it wasn't intended! But from programming to research data collection to analysis to running cables, soldering, figuring out how to configure a router and set up Unix workstations, to clusters and ever-changing codes and advances -- here we are. I have been fortunate and lucky to have had amazing mentors, friends, colleagues and team members throughout. Every day (well, almost every day) is exciting and new. Seeing how our efforts help our campus researchers do more and solve critical problems is so rewarding. I love the HPD/RCD community and how we learn from and help each other. You make it all worthwhile. My name is Ruth Marinshaw and I serve as CTO for Research Computing at Stanford University. #iamhpc #whm2023 Ruth Marinshaw
