About Project

The average wall thickness of the car frame is just 5.5mm, and with 3D printing and sand casting technologies, the production cycle is only 15 days. It's suitable for producing complex automobile parts with very thin walls. But it cannot be as precise as CNC machining.

Solution

  • Step 1: Build the 3D model in CAD, or scan the original part and generate the model with reverse engineering technology.
  • Step 2: 3D print the upper and lower parts of the full-scale sand mold directly with our industrial 3D printer.
  • Step 3: According to the required metal composition ratio and chemical composition, melt the aluminum in a furnace and pour it into the mold cavity.
  • Step 4: After the metal is cooled down and solidified, take a hammer to remove the pouring gate and knock off the sand mold.
  • Step 5: Polish the metal part with sand blasting.
