Do you try to watch your purine intake?  Lots of people do - I'm not a big fan.

Have a look all the way down at the bottom - I have a new gout diet recipe for you from
What To Eat For Gout

However, I don't think you should completely ignore how much high protein/high purine food you eat if you are seriously battling the gout beast.
All too often, the conversation about gout comes down to idea that you have to stop eating red meat - mainly beef.  There are two sides to this that we need get out on the table.

First of all, if you're inner environment is particularly toxic and acidic, eating those high purine foods probably will give you a gout attack. But here's the question I always ask:

"Did you used to eat red meat and not get gout attacks?  What changed?"

Do you think it was the food?  Or was it how your body works?  Yup - how your body works.
We live in a pretty toxic world and we make poor decisions about what we expose ourselves to, but, there are plenty of things we don't even know about or have control over?  What do we do about that?

Read this post and let's keep talking:

How Does Food Effect Uric Acid Levels?

You see, different foods can have an adverse effect on you getting a gout attack.  When your biochemistry becomes compromised by all the toxic crap that either enters our bodies through our mouth, our nose, through our skin, OR...we actually manufacture it ourselves by our mental and emotional processes, some foods become more of a gout problem than others.  (phew...that was a mouthful...no pun intended)

Because the onset of my glamorous life of gout started around the time I was doing construction work and handling a lot of green-treated lumber (i.e. arsenic), I don't really buy that gout is caused completely by a poor diet of cheap food and too much red meat...but it can exacerbate it!

Because we live in such a toxic world - which includes poor quality food - we have to be ever vigilant about what we let enter our inner environment.  And, we have to do the best we can to eliminate what gets in there, and what has gotten in there over our lifetimes.

Read this post carefully.  There is a lot to absorb and really think about - this can be the start of changing your ways and moving toward a life free from gout.

Thank you!

#83)  Fat Boy Fritters
Prep Time:  15 minutes
Cook Time:  10 minutes
Serves:  4

Fritters
  • ½ cup organic corn (kernels)
  • ½ cup organic zucchini (grated & blotted dry)
  • 1 small white onion (chopped fine – ½ for fritters, ½ for guac)
  • 3 free range eggs
  • ¼ cup coconut flour
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup whole milk (raw, unpasteurized, non-homogenized if possible)
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp fresh ground black pepper

Guacamole
  • 2 avocados
  • White onion (from above)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes
  • ¼ tsp fresh ground black pepper

Eggs
  • 4 free range eggs (basted or cooked over easy)
  • 2 tbsp pasture fed butter
This is a happy little lunch for all gout killers.

In a large mixing bowl, combine half of the coconut and almond flours with the baking powder, 3 eggs, and slowly add the milk – mix till smooth, then fold in half of the onion, and the zucchini, and the corn.  Sprinkle in more flour to thicken if needed.

In another mixing bowl, combine the avocado, lime juice, half the onion, and red chili flakes – mash to combine, leave a little bit chunky & lumpy.  Set aside in the fridge.

Heat a large skillet, or a big griddle, to medium-high heat, melt the coconut oil and distribute evenly.

Heat another large skillet to medium heat, and melt the butter.
Start the fritters to cooking first.  Depending on your skillet or griddle, scoop out about ¼ cup sized fritters to sizzling.  Allow to cook about 2 to 3 minutes, until crispy around the edges, the turn and repeat till cooked through.

At roughly the same time, set your eggs to cooking. The best way to get good looking fried eggs is to baste them. To do that, add a splash of non-chlorinated water to the pan and cover with a lid.

Give the pan a jiggle after a minute or so to see how set up the yokes are.  Leave just slightly runny if you can.

When the fritters are just crispy and golden brown, plate them and butter them up with a thick layer of the guac – top with a fried egg, pat yourself on the back for being such an awesome killer of gout, and enjoy your lunch!
