It's cooling off and we just ate the last of the tomatoes!  The chard and kale are still strong and we are still getting jalapenos and serrano's!

What To Eat For Gout

It's always been interesting to me to observe how much people want to know about what to eat or not eat for gout.  It's sort of sad shame that we are so disconnected from where our food comes from.

Can you imagine if you were living 200 years ago today?  What would you be eating?  The crazy thing is that pretty much every day would be consumed with finding food, growing or raising food, and storing it and protecting it.  That was food.  There  was no running down to the store or going out to eat.  It was find or grow your own food, or starve.

My guess is, there was a lot less gout back then.  Then again maybe not because they were all so afraid of the water, they drank lots of alcohol.  Which was not so good either.

But how much food did your great, great grand mother eat?  That is another problem contributing to gout today - there is just TONS of cheap, crappy food EVERYWHERE.  We are a world of fat people!  One of the Big Ideas in my nutritional training was that, "never before in the history of mankind, have we had an emergency need to lower blood sugar."

What do we do about it?  Grow our own food!  Check out this post, there's some good stuff for you to pick up on.

Where Does the Best Food for Gout Come From?

I think we are moving in the direction that whether we want to or not, we are going to have to get back to growing our own food.  Our food supply is poisoned by Big Ag and our bodies are poisoned by Big Pharma.

So the question is, what is it going to take to get you growing your own food?  OR...what is it going to take to get you to know the farmers and growers in your area and support them and commit to eating the REAL FOOD they grow?

If you are a killer of gout - which of course you are and that's why you're here reading this - what do you think you are eating that is giving you gout?  Did you grow that food?  Maybe it's time to figure it all out.

Give this post a read and contemplate where your food comes from.  Let food by thy Medicine ...is how the saying goes.  Grow your own medicine.

    Thank you!

    #79)  Portobello BLT Breakfast
    Prep Time:  5 minutes
    Cook Time:  8 minutes
    Serves:  1
    • 1 Portobello mushroom (washed, dried, and de-stemmed)
    • 2 slices nitrate-free bacon
    • 1 leaf of green leaf lettuce
    • ¼ avocado (sliced)
    • 2 slices of tomato
    • 1 free range egg
    • 1 tbsp organic mayonnaise
    • Sea salt & fresh ground pepper
You’re going to love this one.

Cook your bacon until it’s crispy, then side it aside on a plate with a paper towel to blot the grease – that makes it get crispier.
Pour off a little of the bacon grease into your favorite sauté pan to fry your egg – on medium heat, get your egg frying. (cook it the way you like it)

At the same time, on medium heat, fry the Portobello on both sides in the skillet with the bacon grease – fry it until it’s golden brown and a nice texture – it takes about the same time to fry as the egg does.

Now, remove and plate the Portobello, butter it up with the mayonnaise, and stack the lettuce, tomato, bacon, and avocado on it, then top it off with the egg.
Cool huh?  Salt & pepper to taste and pat yourself on the back for being such a kickass gout killer!
