Call for Volunteers: Art Assembly 2022

Posted on 22 May 2022

Art Assembly is a one-day festival of art and creativity, brought to you by Art Fund with some of Manchester’s leading arts organisations, including: Castlefield Gallery, HOME, Manchester Art Gallery,  the Whitworth and The Manchester College.

On 18 June the festival will display new works of art developed and produced by Greater Manchester artists in collaboration with children and young people from the city of Manchester. The works will explore how everywhere can become a place of creative learning – celebrating the idea of the city as an art school. Visitors will enjoy events, workshops, talks, tours and more!

We are now recruiting the volunteers for Art Assembly to transform the city of Manchester into an art festival together!

What we would like you to bring to the role is:

  • Reliability
  • Willingness to work in different settings and with diverse community groups
  • Enthusiasm for arts and culture
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • A proactive and positive attitude

This will likely be a mixed role with lots of opportunities to get involved with a variety of different areas. Some of the tasks you may be asked to assist with include:

  • Registration/Welcome/Wayfinding
  • Artist liaison/general assistance
  • Install and set up art pieces
  • Aiding with workshop activities and interaction
  • Ensuring public health and safety
  • Supporting audience participation
  • Promoting the festival and its activities via marketing and flyer distribution
  • Festival documentation
  • Capturing evaluative feedback: surveying, questionnaires, etc.
  • Clear down of festival and pack up materials

Expenses for standard class travel and subsistence eg. food and drink will be covered.
