Snake Eyes is set for a special cast panel at Comic-Con 2021 and ten early screenings for fans. After two underwhelming installments in 2009’s The Rise of Cobra and 2013’s Retaliation, Hasbro and Paramount will be rebooting the G.I. Joe franchise yet again with an origin story centered around Snake Eyes, described as a "tenacious loner" with a mysterious past. The film stars Crazy Rich Asians breakout Henry Golding as its eponymous hero.

Officially titled Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, the film will chronicle the titular character’s tutelage under an ancient Japanese clan known as the Arashikage. Snake Eyes will also explore his relationships with Scarlett (Samara Weaving) and Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji), the latter of whom later joins the evil organization called Cobra. The film also features a few other known G.I. Joe entities in The Baroness (Úrsula Corberó), Hard Master (Iko Uwais), and Blind Master (Peter Mensah). Snake Eyes finished production in February 2020 and was once scheduled for an October release. However, the movie was eventually taken off the schedule due to COVID-19. Snake Eyes will finally have a theatrical release on July 23, but now some will be able to see the film sooner.

Joe comics writer Larry Hama will also be present.

Premiere screenings will be held for “fans first” in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Miami, San Diego, Houston, Phoenix, and Vancouver on July 21. Those audience members will then be able to see the film two days early. To supplement this news, Paramount confirmed that the first full-length Snake Eyes trailer is dropping on June 21.

The first teaser trailer for Snake Eyes came last month. It didn’t reveal much, so many have been eagerly awaiting the first full look. The film has a few mysteries to solve and questions to answer, such as how Snake Eyes becomes mute. Hopefully, some of these things will be addressed during the Comic-Con panel. Paramount has big plans for this G.I. Joe reboot, including sequels and a connection to an Amazon series centered on Lady Jaye. Next month, Snake Eyes looks to begin what many see as course correction for the franchise.
