Lucknow: Weeks after the horrific Hathras incident wherein four men allegedly gang-raped and murdered a 19-year-old Dalit girl, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by three youths in Firozabad district after she objected to eve-teasing by them.

The now-deceased girl, a Class 12 student, was allegedly harassed by the three youths when she was returning home from her institute on Friday afternoon. The girl stood up to them even as they continued passing lewd remarks at her. Later, in the night, the accused, who were enraged over being reprimanded by the girl, barged into her house when she was sleeping and thrashed her. When her family tried to intervene, the accused shot her and fled.

The girl’s body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have detained two the three accused for interrogation. Further investigations into the case are underway.

Another incident

In another incident, an autorickshaw driver allegedly raped a three-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior on Friday night.

Police said the accused and the minor survivor are residents of the same locality. On Friday night, the accused lured her by offering her a ride in her autorickshaw was playing at a Durga pandal. He allegedly sexually assaulted her in the vehicle later fled after leaving her at the pandal, police said.

When the girl reached home, her parents noticed her condition and filed a complaint. She was sent to a hospital, where medics confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. Police have launched a hunt to nab to absconding accused.

In a similar incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a 22-year-old youth in UP's Banda on Thursday night. Police said the accused forcibly took the teenager to an isolated place and raped her when she was on her way back home after watching Ramleela. The accused was arrested.
