Only a month after its release, Cyberpunk 2077 is already being sold for half the price at a number of retailers.

Launching on Dec. 10, 2020, with a price tag for $59.99 for the Standard Edition version of the game, Cyberpunk 2077 is now selling for $29.99 on both Best Buy and Amazon for the Xbox One and Playstation 4. The price for the PC version of the game, meanwhile, has dropped to $39.99. This comes after a near-constant stream of bad press from fans and critics alike following the release of the game, stemming from numerous glitches and bugs in the game along with stories of severely overworked developers.

The game's creators, CD Projekt Red, have been contending with Cyberpunk 2077's negative notoriety since its debut. A little over a week after it went on sale, refunds were offered for physical copies of the game in response to widespread complaints on social media about the performance of the release. A short time later, the developers were hit with a class-action lawsuit over the myriad issues with the game. On top of that, CD Projekt Red has issued several apologies regarding the quality of the game, with the most recent arriving on Jan. 13.

"We are committed to fixing bugs and crashes and will continue to work and improve the game via future updates to make sure you are enjoying the game regardless of the platform," the company wrote in its most recent statement. "We will use this space to inform you about the progress being made on Cyberpunk 2077’s further development, including information about updates and improvements, free DLCs and more."

It was also revealed this week that the game's development time was surprisingly short, even less than had been previously reported. This followed multiple delayed release dates, all amidst reports of employees being forced to work overtime to complete the game in time for Dec. 10.
