Substantial expansion and investment planned to increase performance visibility for content creators and retail partners.

Los Angeles, California, July 26, 2022.

Today, rapidly expanding digital publisher, Podium Audio, announced the acquisition of Bookstat, an industry leading data subscription service and analytics platform that tracks all online book purchases in physical, ebook and audiobook formats. Podium’s acquisition of Bookstat is accompanied by a planned investment to further develop the subscription service’s product capabilities and real-time data insights.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Paul Abbassi, Bookstat tracks all online book purchases (physical books, ebooks and audiobooks) from industry leading retailers Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble. Unlike Nielsen PubTrack and the AAP’s Statshots, which only tally self-reported sales from a narrow sector of the publishing industry, Bookstat provides visibility into the whole market and is the only industry data service that tracks all online book purchases at the retail point of sale regardless of publisher type.

“We have had the great opportunity to work closely with Paul Abbassi over the past three years developing a strong understanding and use case for the power of the Bookstat service. Partnering with Paul moving forward and increasing the investment in new capabilities, including new territories, will most certainly bring great value to Bookstat’s existing customers while also attracting new subscribers to the platform,” said Scott Dickey, Podium’s CEO.

“Bookstat was originally launched five years ago to serve the publishing industry by addressing a glaring blind spot in the available market data on digital and online book sales, and our customer base has grown rapidly,” said Bookstat founder, Paul Abbassi. “I’m proud of the product we’ve built, and am now thrilled to be partnering with the entire Podium team for the next exciting chapter in Bookstat’s evolution, which gives us even more room to expand and accelerate the platform for both existing customers and new ones.”

Abbassi will remain with the company, working in conjunction with Podium management as a technology consultant continuing to lead Bookstat’s development and expansion.
