Over-65s make up over half of Covid hospital admissions

Elderly and people in at-risk groups urged to speak to their GP about getting free ‘pneumonia vaccine’

Covid-19 is again taking its toll on the over-65s who are being admitted to hospital with the virus in significant numbers, it emerged yesterday.

In the two weeks to last Thursday, 248 in this age group were hospitalised with the virus – more than half the 475 patients with Covid-19 who were unwell enough to be admitted.
