Family fun, food and music this weekend at Art in the Square festival in Southlake

The annual Southlake Art in the Square festival has sprung from its normal place on the spring calendar to become a fall event in 2021, running this Friday through Sunday instead.

Art in the Square is finally here.

The popular annual event in Southlake Town Square was originally slated for last spring but was postponed until this weekend due to the ongoing pandemic, according to organizers.

“This gives us an opportunity to try some new things,” artist committee chairwoman Terri Messing said last spring. “It won’t be the same, but we’re looking at this as a positive thing. This is really the best thing; everyone wants to get back to normal.”

The outdoor event will feature artist booths, fare from popular local restaurants (like Feedstore BBQ and Taziki’s, among others), a children’s area, and music from The Walton Stout Band on Friday night and Fort Worth fiddler George Navarro on Saturday night.

The event began in 2000 when the Southlake Women’s Club presented the first event as a community fundraiser. Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund programs for 22 beneficiaries that serve women, children and families in Northeast Tarrant County.
