UpEmbed: One-month Anniversary! 🙌

UpEmbed

So it is officially one month since we started working on our project UpEmbed. The ride so far has just been incredible!

Earlier I had written here about our two-week anniversary. Even though it has been just two or three more weeks, I am super excited to share how far we’ve come.

The Backend 😁

Haven’t gotten to the juicy part (APIs related to the videos), but the overall structure is ready. Got done with the Authentication, Billing, and Spaces* API calls.

An amusing/not-so-fun instance was when I firewalled myself out of my server 😂. I laugh about it now, but OMG, I don’t remember feeling like that ever before. Eventually, after spending almost 4 hours on it, I could fix it. You can read about it here. I’ve added the links on how to fix it as well.

With the first month down, the real fun begins. It is time to integrate the front end with the back end, and I get to kick-start the media asset management API calls.

What is the perfect media storage solution, AWS or GCS?

The Frontend 😍

In the earlier post, I mentioned that we will be creating our own React-based video player, “Enigma” and well I am happy to report that we have finished the initial version and integrated it into the platform.

Sneak peak of the player, Seerat would kill me if I shared the whole screenshot before the beta launch. 😁

I wouldn’t say it is perfect right now, but we’ve fixed many of the issues we were facing with Plyr. Plyr is the OG when it comes to the media player, and they inspire a lot of what we are building for Enigma.

We’ve also completed the basic structure of the application, themes** module, and are almost 80% done with the builder.

Haha, the most minor thing, but check out the email template for our application!!!

The Flex 😎

The most epic thing since we started working on UpEmbed is that we have started communicating with other founders who are helping us build our dream. So they are influencing and shaping our product even before the launch.

We have also slowly started gaining traction on our social channels, especially Twitter!

Some random awesome facts:

  • We have gained 8 followers on Twitter

  • Got a like on our LinkedIn page

  • Gained 5 followers on Indie Hackers

  • Got 8 sign-ups on our website

  • The site visitors in a month seem very unrealistic considering we haven’t launched our product yet, but this is just a huge confidence booster

  • Indie Hackers is our primary source of traffic and the one that got us the most sign-ups

  • Visitors from different countries. Looking forward to the day it all turns blue!

Conclusion

This is just the beginning of our journey to be the most fantastic video marketing tool ever! 😁 Yes, that is our goal. And with the support of our growing community of founders, it seems more and more achievable every day.
For February, we will finalize our MVP for the beta launch, get feedback, and make changes accordingly.

Sign-up on our website to be eligible for beta access.

The real fun has just begun!

Please follow our journey on our UpEmbed product page on IndieHackers for daily updates and do follow our social channels as well (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Reddit).

  • Spaces: we want to allow our users to create a space for each of their projects so that everything is more easily managed rather than jumbled up.
Example: An agency running a campaign for Nike and Addidas can create two different spaces for each and add team members to each space. The team members would only be able to view the space they are a part of.

  • Themes: we want to allow our users to modify Enigma to go perfectly with their video. Users could create and apply these themes to each video individually.

Example: Running a campaign for Coke Cola, the agency would create a theme for Enigma (video player), use the brand colors in the player, and customize the UI to make the whole video more appealing.

Thank you.

PS: A special shoutout to the IH community for enabling new founders with establishing their product. Thank you for the non-stop support and appreciation!
