Natalie Portman, star of the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, confirmed her character's official name in an interview with Kelly Clarkson.

In a virtual appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Portman, who played astrophysicist Jane Foster in the first two Thor movies, confirmed what many had already suspected: She will take on the mantle of The Mighty Thor in the franchise's fourth installment.

Portman conducted the interview from Sydney, Australia, where she is waiting to begin filming the fourth movie in the Thor series. Clarkson tried to get the actress to divulge details on what powers Jane Foster will have, but Portman revealed little, saying that her character's powers will be her own version of Thor's abilities.

When asked to name her favorite superhero, Portman picked Thor. However, she expressed excitement about the much-delayed Black Widow film starring Scarlett Johansson, as well as Captain Marvel and the women of the Black Panther movie. Clarkson said she too was excited for the upcoming slate of female superheroes.

Portman added that not only are female superheroes important for young girls to see, "but it's really important for the boys, you know, for boys to get to see women in those kinds of characters and in those kinds of personalities. It just expands opportunity for how we all see each other."

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. The film arrives in theaters Feb. 11, 2022.
