A Prayer Vigil for Peace in Ukraine

On the eve of the Funeral of Chris Parry, the young Truro-born volunteer recently killed in Ukraine, the people of Cornwall and members of the Ukrainian community will unite in a Vigil of prayer for peace.

There will be an opportunity to light candles, and place pictures and other memorabilia that will remind us of those we have been concerned about, who we miss and who need our prayers as the war in Ukraine continues. Other prayer stations and suitable activities for children will also be found around the cathedral’s sacred space.

People are invited to come and go as they please at the vigil. There will be times of silent and spoken prayer and times when music will be played with some of the Ukrainian music performed by The Ukrainian Sunflowers choir.  Chris Parry’s family will be present at the Vigil.  Dean Simon Robinson will welcome people to the cathedral and Hugh Nelson, Bishop of St Germans, will offer some words of reflection. The Funeral of Chris Parry will take place in the cathedral on 10 March at 14:00.

The Vigil will be live-streamed between 18:30-20:00. You can view the live-stream on this page or on our YouTube Channel
