VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES ARE OPEN

Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity’s priority is the health and safety of homeowners, supporters, volunteers, staff, and the community. While the concerns of the gravity of the Covid-19 situation remain at large, Habitat’s volunteer activities, which includes our repair program are open as we continue to follow Covid-safe procedures. Please continue to check in and also look out for the monthly volunteer e-letter as well. We look forward to having you join us and you may reach out to the Volunteer Manager any time with questions or concerns at: regina@habitatabq.org

VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

We are hosting both in-person and Virtual Volunteer Orientations. The latter are held via Zoom. Orientations will be held every last Wednesday of the month. To participate, register online here and sign up using the Habitat Volunteer Calendar. The orientation is for volunteers wanting to help in the Restore, with events, or in the office, and to learn about Habitat ABQ. There, we will discuss COVID procedures, shift sign-ups, review job opportunities, and answer any questions you may have.

*Please note: If you are only interested in the Repair Program or Construction Site please reach out to the volunteer manager. You do not need to take this orientation but are still welcome.

If you have any questions please call 505-359-2432 or email Regina, Volunteer Manager. We appreciate your understanding and patience at this time. We hope that you and your families stay safe and well and we will touch base in the weeks to come.

Construction Volunteer

(Opening Soon)

Habitat hosts three builds a week, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Due to the limitations in days and the number of people allowed at the build site at once, we cannot accept “walk-on” volunteers. Individuals must be registered before they volunteer and they must have signed up for a shift on the volunteer calendar to participate.

Training is provided on site and volunteers do not need to have experience to be part of a Habitat building crew. A work day is 8am – 2pm.

Office Volunteer

(Now Open – Welcoming Volunteers)

Habitat is in need of an office volunteer that is able to assist with some data entry work, approximately 10-20 hours a week, depending on your speed. Shifts can range from 4 hours or less, must have Microsoft excel skills and they can assist on weekdays or Saturdays. The volunteer will be required to work within the Habitat office space on site. There will be some brief training to get you started. If you are interested, please reach out to the volunteer manager: Regina Red at: regina@habitatabq.org or 505-359-2432.

ReStore Volunteer

(Now Open – Welcoming Volunteers)

Volunteering at the ReStore is a great way to help Habitat for Humanity because all the profits earned from store sales goes into building affordable homes. Volunteer activities include organizing inventory, sorting merchandise, providing customer service, helping in the receiving area, and other special projects. Retail experience and knowledge of building materials is helpful but not required. Building or handyman skills are a plus.

ReStore volunteers must undergo an orientation before signing up for their first shift. You can schedule an orientation during the signup process.

Homeowner Outreach

(Now Open – Welcoming Volunteers)

Homeowner Outreach: Looking for volunteers to help reach out to current Habitat Homeowners to conduct follow up calls to help prepare for our annual Impact Survey. Volunteers can assist anytime throughout the week or weekend while at home, mornings, afternoons, or evenings.  If you are interested, please reach out to the Volunteer Manager for more information at: regina@habitatabq.org or 505-359-2432
