The Mandalorian season 2's release date on Disney+ is officially confirmed. When Disney launched their long-awaited streaming service last fall, The Mandalorian was positioned as the platform's flagship program. As the first live-action Star Wars TV show, there was much hype surrounding the series, and it fortunately lived up to its potential. The Mandalorian was an instant success with viewers and critics, even scoring 15 Emmy nominations (including Best Drama). Unsurprisingly, Lucasfilm is planning on keeping The Mandalorian around for the foreseeable future, with season 2 on the way and season 3 already in the works.

After luckily completing principal photography just days before the coronavirus lockdowns, The Mandalorian season 2 remains on track for release this fall. Audiences are very excited for the show's return, especially since The Mandalorian will reportedly feature legacy characters like Ahsoka Tano and Boba Fett this season. Lucasfilm has yet to kick off a marketing campaign for the new season, but now it's known when Disney+ subscribers can watch the premiere.

On Twitter, the official The Mandalorian account announced season 2 debuts on October 30. Check out their post in the space below:

With a release date officially announced and right around the corner, Lucasfilm will likely begin marketing The Mandalorian season 2 in the near future. The show would almost definitely have been a centerpiece at Star Wars Celebration 2020 in Anaheim, but the convention was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nothing's confirmed at this time, but unveiling the actual streaming date (and a new logo with Baby Yoda) now is a sign the studio is gearing up for the promotional campaign and there'll be a big Mandalorian push over the next month. Disney+'s plan to release new Marvel Cinematic Universe shows this year had to be altered because of COVID-19 delays, so once again The Mandalorian is the service's crown jewel in terms of original programming.

The phrasing of "new episodes" in the Tweet could imply multiple episodes will stream on October 30. However, it wouldn't be surprising if season 2 followed the same weekly release schedule as its predecessor. That model worked very well for The Mandalorian season 1, so Disney+ has no real reason to tweak the formula. Especially with a lack of exclusive movies and TV shows, sticking to weekly episodes would be a strong way to keep The Mandalorian (and Disney+) in the pop culture conversation for an extended period of time - ideally encouraging even more people to sign up to see what the buzz is about. October 30 is most likely when the season's first episode will come out, and a full schedule will probably come out soon.
