Malawi Frontline Voices

We were glad to share the wonderful opportunity to hear the frontline voices of healthcare workers in Malawi who are providing healthcare for some of the poorest communities during the pandemic. The online event was hosted in partnership with Scotland Malawi Partnership.

About the event

On 2nd September 2021, we had 60 people join us to hear from and  support healthcare workers in Malawi battling sickness and poverty in the pandemic. EMMS International’s work providing compassionate, high-quality healthcare for some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people has never been as important as during Covid-19.

Our CEO and Director of International Programmes Cathy Ratcliff was joined in conversation by Dr Arie and Dr Lisanne Glas from Mulanje Mission Hospital; Dr Esau Kasonda from Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences; and Funny Lutepo, a Nurse Midwife Technician who recently graduated through our project training young Malawian women in healthcare professions. They discussed the impact of the pandemic in the lives of women and girls, and families struggling with chronic illness and infectious diseases. There was also music from Malawi courtesy of Davie Luhanga.
