OB/GYN Hospitalists as Leaders in Patient Experience: Implementing TeamBirth
Monique Katsuki, MD Catherine Wilkins, MD Jennifer Eaton, MD
TeamBirth is an innovative shared decision-making model for labor and delivery developed by Ariadne Labs, a joint center for health systems innovation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. TeamBirth has now been implemented in over 130 hospitals around the United States and in international sites. The TeamBirth model has consistently been shown to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience, and to reduce disparities in outcomes. In 2024 two Cleveland Clinic birthing centers joined the first national cohort for TeamBirth implementation. We will be providing background information on TeamBirth, outcomes data associated with the model, our experience with the implementation process, interactive practice opportunities to demonstrate how the model works, and an opportunity for Q&A with three Cleveland Clinic OB/Gyn Hospitalists who led the implementation process.

Calling all Abstracts!
Submit an abstract of your research for the next SOGH Annual Clinical Meeting in September 2024. Priority will be given to topics that support OB/GYN Hospital Medicine. Topics may include, but are not limited to, in-hospital Obstetrics, emergency Obstetrics and Gynecology, quality metrics, simulation and staff education, team-based medicine, and communication. Projects of the following types are welcome:
- Original clinical or basic science research
- Quality improvement projects, including impact studies and innovative protocols
- Case report or series
The SOGH ACM is scheduled for September 7-11, 2024. There will be an oral abstract afternoon breakout session and an evening poster reception. While an in-person meeting is planned with virtual attendance options, we anticipate our oral abstract and poster presentations will be presented in person. When submitting, please indicate if you would opt out of an oral presentation if chosen for such. Please note that all authors with accepted abstracts will need to submit posters and/or presentations in a digital format. Further details of this will be provided with abstract acceptance. In addition, the overall winning abstract presenter will be given the opportunity to present in person to the entire attendee group in the morning on Wednesday, September 11 (winner must be present).
*Please note that ACM registration is required for accepted abstract presenters.
Cash prizes will be awarded to winning abstracts. In addition, all authors with selected abstracts will receive expedited review for publication in the Journal of OB/GYN Hospital Medicine. Details of requirements for submission to the journal will be shared with abstract acceptance.
We welcome posters by medical students, residents, fellows, APPs, NPs, PAs, midwives or attending physicians. This is a fabulous opportunity to present your research at a national meeting. There will be recognition for the top trainee abstract separate from the overall winning submissions.
Please use this form to submit your abstract by Friday, June 14, 2024.
