Hair trends come and go each and every season. However, one that has continued to stand the test of time each summer is the desire to go lighter! Currently planning out their summer vacations, clients and probably trying to squeeze in a quick touch-up before they take off. Chances are, most of them will be looking for a lighter, brighter appearance at their next appointment. Read on for a few of our favorite ways to embrace this trend!

Root Touch Up Clients: Create A Face-Frame/Money Piece

If clients are looking for a quick and easy way to add interest to their style, add a face-frame, also known as a “Money Piece,” to their appointment. This is a great option for clients that don’t normally ask for highlights or only come in for root touch-ups. This service will add brightness to their appearance without completely overhauling their look. In addition to this, the upkeep is fairly low-maintenance and has little risk of damage because of the minimal placement.

Natural Hair Color: A Touch Of Sun-Kissed

Over the past year, many clients have skipped their usual appointments and have chosen to grow out their natural color. Whether this applies to your client or they simply have never dyed their hair before, consider adding a touch of sun without completely overdoing it. Instead of adding a high contrast or multi-dimensional balayage, consider lifting only 1-2 levels lighter than their natural tone. This will create a subtle glow for summer while creating a low-key look they will love well into fall.

One-Dimensional: Modernizing The Glow Up

Clients everywhere are opting for a single all-over tone, but that doesn’t mean it has to lack dimension or lightness. If your client prefers darker one-dimensional colors, add a subtle glow by painting the edges of their hairline with a formula that is 1/2 to a single shade lighter than the rest. Think of it as a reverse root shadow, this technique softens the hair color and adds the faintest hint of glow while letting their color shine.
