Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive clip from the upcoming episode of Shantaram on Apple TV+. Shantaram is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Gregory David Roberts which is reportedly inspired by incidents in his life. Shantaram is the first in a quartet, with the sequel novel, The Mountain Shadow, released in 2015. The series follows Lin (played by Charlie Hunnam), who escapes prison in Australia before traveling to Bombay. As he tries to make a new life in Bombay in the 1980s away from the troubles in Australia. While he tries to stay under the radar, he is pulled into the criminal underworld when he falls for an enigmatic woman named Karla.

The Apple+ series Shantaram captures the intensity of the criminal underworld in Bombay, but this is a story about redemption at its heart. Consumed by guilt, Lin uses his skills as a former EMT to help people in Bombay, even as it gains him unwanted attention from authorities, the press, and the crime lords. While there, he meets and falls for the mysterious Karla, who appears in Screen Rant's exclusive scene from the upcoming episode.

Screen Rant's exclusive Shantaram clip is from the eighth episode, "Like In The Time Of Cholera" which premieres on Apple TV+ on November 18. The clip features Karla negotiating with a scared young woman. Karla reveals that she bought the woman's debt, which throws her into a panic. However, Karla offers to clear her debt if the woman makes a phone call to a mysterious but important friend, asking them to come to Bombay. The woman, while initially eager to gain her freedom, seems hesitant. And with Madame Zhou listening in to the conversation, it's tough to guess how things will turn out.

Shantaram's eighth episode will further develop and complicate the connection between Karla and Lin as she helps to nurse him back to health after he falls deliriously ill. Lin is forced to seek help from the crime lord Kahder once more, much to Qasim Ali's distaste. Although Lin's heart is probably in the right place, becoming even more indebted to Kahder could spell trouble for not only Lin but for the entire Sagar Wada.

Alongside Hunnam, Shantaram also stars Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, and Antonia Desplat. Steve Lightfoot, co-creator of the series, serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Bharat Nalluri directs and executive produces. Shantaram is produced for Apple by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content’s AC Studios.
