Join If/When/How’s Reproductive Justice Lawyers Network

If/When/How has created a Reproductive Justice Lawyers Network to bring together a powerful, nationwide group of legal professionals who want to mobilize for reproductive justice. The network will fight together, learn together, and advocate for reproductive justice together. When you become a member, you’ll gain access to a variety of skill-building workshops, continuing education credits, exclusive networking events, and volunteer opportunities. Defending Abortion Providers - Looking for Texas Attorneys to Represent those sued under SB8: Texas’ recently passed anti-abortion law (Texas State Bill 8) bans abortion at approximately 6 weeks of pregnancy and authorizes anyone to sue an abortion provider or anyone who helps a person get an abortion, and could allow lawsuits against a range of individuals, including those who help someone pay for an abortion or who drive a patient to a clinic.

The National Women’s Law Center is looking for Texas-licensed attorneys interested in representing those who are sued under this new law, such as abortion providers and abortion funds. There is a particular need for experienced litigators in areas such as personal injury and civil rights litigation. A coalition working on these efforts will connect interested attorneys with available resources, assistance, and guidance to support their involvement in such cases. Funding may also be available for those interested in helping.

Volunteers Needed to Help with Afghan Immigration Cases: Pro bono attorneys are needed to help Afghans with their SIV, P-2, and humanitarian parole cases. Volunteers are needed who can provide general guidance, are willing to look over forms to be submitted to USCIS but not represent applicants, and those willing to represent Afghan applicants on a pro bono basis. Help with the COVID-19 Eviction Crisis: Pro bono attorneys are urgently needed to help with COVID-related eviction cases across the country. Local legal aid organizations have varying needs and offer support, training, and supervision of pro bono cases. Email LCEmails@acslaw.org to find out more about opportunities available in your area.

Volunteers Needed for Remote Immigration Opportunities: The Immigration Justice Campaign is looking for volunteers to provide pro bono assistance to individuals in detention. All opportunities are currently fully remote. All available opportunities are listed on IJC’s webpage, but select opportunities are linked below. Remote Pro Bono Border Help Needed for Immigration Cases: Al Otro Lado serves indigent deportees, migrants, and refugees in Tijuana, Mexico by providing legal services. They are in need of lawyer and law student volunteers to remotely help this vulnerable population. Volunteers Needed for Voting and Election Projects: Join ACS and our coalition partners in tracking current updates on voting and election administration issues. Both lawyer and law student volunteers are needed to research ongoing changes on a state and local level. Volunteers are needed to help through November and also on shorter-term projects. Volunteer with Law for Black Lives: Law for Black Lives is working with the Mississippi Prison Reform Coalition to get the most vulnerable people released from prison through habeas and other legal mechanisms. They are looking for lawyers who are licensed to practice in any state, have some experience with post-conviction relief or prison conditions, and can commit to taking an individual client for at least the next few months. COVID-19 Compassionate Release Pro Bono: The Compassionate Release Clearing House is seeking pro bono attorneys to be matched with qualified individuals in federal prisons who are applying for compassionate release. The COVID-19 pandemic has made release for those who qualify all the more urgent, and the Clearing House has received over 400 requests for legal aid. Pro Bono Help Needed for Immigration Cases: The Mississippi Center for Justice is on the frontline of the immigration crisis and providing a swift and powerful response to the recent raids.  They are coordinating a rapid response legal team to help community members locate detained loved ones, provide immigration legal assistance to those now facing removal, and ensure the care of children whose parents or guardians have been imprisoned.  The Center is currently looking for volunteer attorneys to help with both remote and local needs. ACS-Spread the Vote Voting Rights Partnership: Spread The Vote (STV) is a non-profit that helps individuals obtain government issued IDs in states that require ID to vote. STV is currently working in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. STV needs help researching and compiling guides that outline state-specific voting law and the process for obtaining an ID and registering to vote in that state. If you live in one of these states and would like to participate, please email LCEmails@acslaw.org with the subject line "Spread the Vote".

Amicus Briefs: Experienced lawyers and law firms are needed to write amicus briefs for various progressive lawsuits. Please email LCEmails@acslaw.org with the subject line "Amicus Briefs" to be put on a list for future projects.
