How to get to Hua Hin from Bangkok 

The capital city of Bangkok is Thailand’s biggest city and is famous for its temples, food, and markets. The distance from Bangkok to Hua Hin is about 200km, and there are many ways to get to Hua Hin from Bangkok, including bus, taxi, van, or train. 

If you want to go from Bangkok to Hua Hin by bus, there are multiple options at different times of the day. At Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal, there are air-conditioned vans going to Hua Hin at 6:10 AM, 10:10 AM, 12:10 PM, and 5:10 PM. The journey to Hua Hin bus station takes 3 hours and 45 minutes and will cost 230 baht. 

From Mochit New Van Terminal, there are vans or minibusses to Hua Hin at 6:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM. The journey will take four hours and cost 230 baht as well. At Sombat Tour Viphavadee 13, air-conditioned buses to Hua Hin depart 4 times a day (6 AM, 8:20 AM, 2:20 PM, 6:30 PM), tickets cost 316 baht, and the journey takes 4 hours. 

Other bus stations where you can get a van or bus from Bangkok to Hua Hin include Ekkamai bus station where vans leave at 5 AM, 11 AM and 2 PM. This journey takes 4 hours and has a cost of 250 baht. You can also depart from Khao San Road with vans leaving at 9:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 3:30 PM with a duration of 3.5 hours and a cost of 400 baht.

If you arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport and wish to head straight to Hua Hin, there is a bus service with Bell Travel with a daily departure at 1 PM. The bus from Bangkok airport to Hua Hin station takes 4 hours and costs 300 baht. 

Typically, trains in Thailand move much slower than buses. However, going from Bangkok to Hua Hin by train is a good idea because cars tend to get stuck in traffic when leaving Bangkok. The train from Bangkok to Hua Hin departs from Hua Lamphong train station. The train #171 leaves Bangkok at 1 PM and takes about 4 hours 15 minutes to arrive at Hua Hin. Tickets are second-class only and cost 402 baht.

If you want to travel with a bit more comfort and speed, you can also go from Bangkok to Hua Hin by taxi or private van. These can be requested at any time, the driver will pick you up at the hotel or any other part of Bangkok. How to get from Pattaya to Hua Hin

Pattaya and Hua Hin are separated by 323 KM of road, as well as the majestic Gulf of Thailand. You can make the journey from Pattaya to Hua Hin by ferry, direct buses, and vans.

The ferry from Pattaya to Hua Hin departs at 1 PM from Bali Hai pier. The trip takes about 2 – 3 hours, depending on the conditions of the sea. Tickets cost 1,250 baht for standard seats.

Another option is to travel from Pattaya to Hua Hin by bus. VIP buses depart from Pattaya Northern Bus Station daily at 11 AM. Tickets cost 510 baht, and the journey takes 6 hours.

If you want to travel on your own terms, you can get a private minivan or taxi to Hua Hin for 3,410 baht – 5,500 baht, arriving in around 4-5 hours.

How to travel from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin 

Chiang Mai is the largest city in Northern Thailand and home of incredible temples and history. Chiang Mai is 885km, and 14 hours away from Hua Hin, quite far, we know. To get from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin, you have three options, but two of them have a stop in Bangkok. 

The first option is by air. You can catch a flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, and from there, follow one of the transportation options we mentioned above. The second option is to travel from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin by bus. It will be a long but comfortable journey. At Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 3, you will find buses to Hua Hin departing at 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM daily, and tickets cost 1,220 baht.

The third option is to travel to Hua Hin by train. You can get one of the trains departing daily from Chiang Mai to Bangkok and then get a Bangkok to Hua Hin train. The trip will take around 14 hours, and it can cost up to 2,500 baht depending on the train and seats you chose. The night sleeper train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok is the best option but also the most expensive one.

How to get to Hua Hin from Phuket

Phuket Island is a tourist’s delight with breathtaking beaches and luxurious resorts. The distance from Phuket to Hua Hin is 577 KM and can be covered by bus, taxi, or train.

There are no flights from Phuket to Hua Hin. All the flying options will involve a combination of flight + bus, flight + train, or flight + ferry, making it a costly and long journey. The fastest way to get from Phuket to Hua Hin is by private taxi, but it is also the most expensive option. The taxi ride from Phuket to Hua Hin costs between 9,900 -11,550 baht. 

The best option is the direct bus from Phuket to Hua Hin, which has 5 departures per day and costs 913 baht. This journey from Phuket to Hua Hin by direct bus takes about 10 hours.

Another alternative would be an air-conditioned bus + train combo boarding at Phuket Bus Terminal 2. The bus departs at 12 PM or 2 PM with a duration of 4 and a half hours. You’ll head to Surat Thani train station to catch either the 4:40 PM or 6:37 PM train to Hua Hin. Note that the train journey takes between 7-8 hours, which means you’ll arrive in Hua Hin in the early hours of the morning. The bus has a cost of 250 baht and the train between 200 to 1300 baht depending if you travel in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class.

How to get from Krabi to Hua Hin

Krabi is located on the South Coast of Thailand and is popularly known for its hundreds of beaches spread across many islands and its incredible limestone cliffs. It is located 587km away from Hua Hin, and the best option to travel between the cities is by direct bus or private van/taxi. 

The most convenient and cost-effective way to get from Krabi to Hua Hin is the overnight bus. There are two departures at 8 PM and 10 PM (VIP option). The bus journey takes about 9 hours and costs approximately 700 baht.

If money is not a problem, then you can book a private taxi from Krabi to Hua Hin. The private van to Hua Hin will cost between 9,200 to 11,500 baht, and you will arrive in 8 and a half hours. This is a good option for those traveling with family or friends, as the driver will pick you up at your hotel in Krabi and drop you off at your accommodation in Hua Hin. How to get to Hua Hin from Koh Samui, Koh Tao or Koh Phagnan

The vacation island of Koh Samui is 554 KM away from Hua Hin. Travelers can take a ferry and bus combo, which gets them from Koh Samui to Hua Hin in 9 hours and 5 minutes. The journey begins on the ferry with two scheduled departures at 6:30 AM and 10:30 AM. The combined ticket cost is 1,550 baht.

Koh Tao is another vacation island in Thailand that is known for its dive spots among colorful reefs, as well as many restaurants and bars. Your option to travel from Koh Tao to Hua Hin is a ferry + bus combo. The ferry leaves Mae Haad pier in Koh Tao at 10:15 AM and 2:45 PM, and you get to Hua Hin Lomprayah station just under the 7-hour mark. Tickets cost about 1,100 baht.

And how to get from Koh Phagnan to Hua Hin? Again, your best option to travel to Hua Hin from Koh Phagan is a ferry + bus combo with tickets priced at 1,300 baht. The ferry departs from Thong Sala pier in Koh Phangan at 8:30 AM and 1:00 PM, and you arrive at Hua Hin Lomprayah station 8 hours and 35 minutes later.
