Jack O’Shea’s memory of his first day pitched into the roaring jet stream of Brian Mullins’s presence runs faithful to all we came to know of the Dublin colossus.

It was a 1976 National League game in Tralee, O’Shea making only his second senior outing in the green and gold. Before the start, he felt like a goldfish being pitched into battle with a barracuda.
