About Project

Sky Whale is a self-propelled cutter suction dredger with installed power and dredging capacity ranking first in Asia and third in the world. It's designed by China and German companies. Here is a 3D printed scaled-down resin model of the boat.

Solution

  • Step 1: Examine the STL files and communicate with our clients about their requirements. After both confirm with the size, structure, material and finishing, we input the 3D model into the slicing software and add support structure.
  • Step 2: If you don’t like the rough surface finish of FDM printed objects, SLA will be the better choice. SLA 3D printing is known for its fine features, smooth surface finish, ultimate part precision, and accuracy.
  • Step 3: Take out the prints and wash them with IPA to remove excess materials and supports. Sand and polish the prints to remove marks and bumps. Then post-cure them with UV.
  • Step 4: Paint all the parts with reference to the blueprints. Then glue them together.
