CalViva Health has won the National Community Action Corporate Partnership award.

The national award honors businesses and corporations that work directly toward economic growth that will increase opportunities for children and families in the regions that they serve.

Kings Community Action Organization nominated Fresno-based CalViva for the award, which recognized them for its programs exemplifying the Community Action Partnership’s goals. The CalViva team traveled to New York City to accept the award.

CalViva Health is the Central Valley’s local option for Medi-Cal with a mission to provide access to quality, cost-effective health care and promote the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve in partnership with health care providers and community partners, according to a news release.

As a Local Initiative Plan, CalViva Health improves care for individuals and families in the Fresno, Kings and Madera County area by offering local access, local control and local responsive health care.

“Our mission is just a starting point,” said CalViva Health’s CEO Jeffrey Nkansah. “We have so much more to accomplish, so many more lives to influence, and so many more partners to engage.”

CalViva Health has implemented programs and supported local nonprofit organizations over the past ten years, prioritizing the immediate and long-term needs of the communities they serve.

“CalViva Health goes above managing healthcare plans,” Nkansah added. “We are a community liaison and a driving force of change.”
