A Howell man police said sexually assaulted four young girls, the youngest under 7 years old, has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, according to court records.

Christopher Schroeder was awaiting trial on rape charges filed in 2018 when he was charged last year with seven more counts of criminal sexual assault involving three young girls under the age of 16.

Schroeder, 37, pleaded guilty Wednesday to six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of first-degree child abuse as part of a plea agreement with the Livingston County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the remaining charges, according to court records. The agreement recommends Schroeder be sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in prison on the child abuse charge and between 15 and 22 years on the sexual assault charges.

Court records show Schroeder is currently serving a prison term for domestic violence and interfering with electronic communications.

Schroeder is scheduled to appear in front of Livingston County Judge Michael Hatty for sentencing on Sept. 2.
