WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #50 by Ryan Parrott, Daniele Di Nicuolo and Walter Baiamonte, on sale now.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #50 put an exclamation point on the "Necessary Evil" arc and showed the return of the Ranger's greatest threat, Lord Drakkon. The Power Rangers and the Omega Rangers just got done dealing with the fallout from the last time Lord Drakkon exorcised his reign of terror on the Morphin Grid -- now they have to decide how to deal with him once more.

Lord Drakkon has an intimate relationship with the Power Rangers because he was a Ranger. Tommy Oliver is known for his stints as the Green and White Ranger, but BOOM! Studios saw Tommy give into Rita Repulsa's corruption to become the evil Lord Drakkon before he returned as the White Ranger. Lord Drakkon is so feared because of his combination of power and ruthless execution of his evil plans. When Rita first anointed Drakkon, she allowed him to keep the Green Ranger's power. However, that wasn't good enough, because he stole the White Ranger's powers as well. This took Drakkon from a normal problem to a galactic force, unlike anything the Rangers have dealt with before.

Drakkon started stealing morphers and manipulating them to give his own army of evil rangers with increased powers. Under Drakkon's influence, Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart even became the vaunted Ranger Slayer and was the second most powerful Ranger in the entire universe -- only surpassed by Drakkon.

Besides turning fellow Rangers into fellow evildoers, Drakkon could also teleport and travel through time. This allowed him to travel into different dimensions and kill other versions of Tommy Oliver and inflict his plans in not just his current timeline, but any other timeline of his choosing. This is by far the most dastardly of his menacing deeds because it truly shows the extent Drakkon will go to in order to complete his mission.

Lord Drakkon made such a large impact on the Morphin Grid, his influence caused major problems for not only the Power Rangers, but the Omega Rangers as well -- even long after he was gone.

Kiya was granted the power of the Omega Blue Ranger, whose powers are tied to the alchemical traits of water. Upon discovering Tommy still leads the Power Rangers and her fellow Omega Rangers are still friendly with him, she turns on them and declares war on any and all allies of Tommy Oliver. Her splinter group is called the Anointed and it took all the might of the Power and Omega Rangers to defeat her.

There's still one burning question remaining about Drakkon's return: Who -- or what -- is he?

Tommy's place as the White Ranger is secure, so this new Lord Drakkon is somewhat of a mystery. He may prove to be even more powerful than Tommy. However, this version of Drakkon doesn't arrive as a threat, but with a short and insidious warning: "They're coming." It's ominous, to be sure; depending on how the story progresses, it seems possible the Rangers will have to team up with Drakkon to take down a new threat. It could also be just another plot to make the Rangers vulnerable.
