Even though we’ve been doing Zoom classes for a year now, I’m still not used to it. The Zoom fatigue is real! Here are some tips for surviving Zoom classes:

Blue Light Glasses

Blue light glasses are a must-have! Staring at a computer screen for too long gives me massive headaches, and blue light glasses have helped so much. The only struggle I have with them is that they tend to be reflective so everyone can see my screen. Therefore, I tend to avoid using them during meetings, but I put them on all the other times I use my laptop. These are the glasses I have, and I love the style and the mission of the company.

Hydration

Whenever I’m glued to my desk chair, I often forget about making sure I’m drinking enough water. I have been strict about keeping a filled glass or bottle of water next to me during every class to ensure I stay hydrated. I’ve even created a new hydration schedule that I can stick to every day! I drink two glasses before/between each of my meals, two glasses before lunch, snack, dinner, and bedtime. This schedule has helped me drink enough water every day. I think it’s beneficial because the restrictions are pretty flexible, so I’m more likely to stick with them. I’m also guilty of starting to doze off during classes, and drinking water frequently helps me stay alert.

Breaks

Breaks are so important! This semester, I stacked all my classes on Monday and Wednesday. I find myself feeling drained at the end of the day. I make sure I take the time to take short breaks in between classes, especially during long days. I think it’s crucial to prioritize your health and go for a walk or take a nap, even if it means skipping a club meeting or a live lecture. While skipping live classes isn’t probably a good trend to start, missing one now and then and catching up on the recording is helpful when you need rest.

I hope you found this advice helpful and take time to care for yourselves during the business of virtual school. Zoom classes can be difficult, but hey, we’re only two months away from the end of the semester. And, hopefully, this will be the last time we have to take Zoom classes in a while (fingers crossed)! Things are finally looking more hopeful! :)
