SAN ANTONIO — Former San Antonio Spurs center, Mark McNamara, died on Monday, according to the Cal athletic website at the age of 60.
He was the No. 22 overall pick in the 1982 draft by the 76ers but would play for the Spurs from 1983-84 and briefly from 1984-85.
McNamara played 82 games total for San Antonio averaging 13.4 minutes per game, 62 percent shooting, 4.1 rebounds and 5.5 points per game, his career-best. He also played with the Lakers, Magic, Kings and overseas in Italy before leaving the game of basketball.
In 2009, McNamara was announced as one of 30 players on the Golden Bears All-Century team in celebration of 100 seasons of Cal basketball. He was inducted into the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016 according to Cal Athletics.
