Commissioning and Transition Engineer - Woking

upto £45k per annum - Perm - Renewable Energy

Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy networks in Milton Keynes and Woking, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10 MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations.  Based in Woking, Surrey

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring progress and take responsibility of integration of new installations, commissioning and assimilation into the systems
  • Liaison with projects and operations team members to ensure full satisfaction by all parties
  • Development of PPM schedules for new and outstanding equipment
  • The Post is responsible for promoting communication with all parties during the life of any project, major overhaul, system or equipment upgrades.
  • Managing commissioning, snagging, hand over and installation documentation {including “as built” documents}
  • Co-ordinate between Projects Engineers, Contractors, Repairs and Maintenance Team and the end users.
  • Manage external contractors on occasion.
  • Ensure all records are kept up to date and submitted accordingly
  • Work with, and aim to improve Health and safety
  • Maintenance and updating of energy asset registers
  • Periodic review and updating of emergency response and contingency/service resilience plans
  • Ensuring record systems are updated and responsibility for condition surveys, meter data and future project upkeep

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • A strong understanding of plant O&M relevant to district energy based experience on service delivery, preferably, from within the energy industry.
  • Experience of process plants or power generation, electrical distribution and chilled water systems
  • Experience of working with PLC/SCADA systems
  • Experience of maintenance & repair for commercial pumps, motors & Valves
  • Willing to learn and become conversant with equipment and requirements of the plant installed in, and required by, our client
  • Relevant Mechanical / electrical qualifications to C&G or NVQ standard, relevant apprenticeship / qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • IOSH Managing safety or similar
  • ACoP L8 Legionella Aware / trained as duty holder; desirable
  • Prince 2 (advantageous)
  • Experience in administration and / or operation of CMMS systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • The ability to work well both as part of a team and on your own Able to influence peers, and others, to produce a desired outcome
  • Experience in small and large district heating networks; desirable

Remuneration:

  • Salary – £40,000 - £45,000 DOE
  • 25 Days plus annual leave plus Bank holidays
