Story

As Hampshire's leading mental health charity, Solent Mind remains determined to offer help to anyone who needs us. We've continued to provide lifelines by adapting our vital services in a number of ways:

- We're running a free Coronavirus Helpline for those experiencing emotional distress during the pandemic.

- Our online Peer Support groups are providing vital connections for those who are isolated or alone.

- We're providing free online classroom sessions to share coping skills to grow independence.

- We continue to give specialised PTSD and military to civilian transition support to veterans over the phone.

Critically, we continue to partner and stand side-by-side with NHS staff to relive the growing pressure on services and prevent people from experiencing a mental health crisis.

Beyond our immediate response, we know that there will be a legacy of people developing poor emotional health as they face the long term effects of isolation, financial difficulties, poverty or bereavement. We must be here to meet this unprecedented increase in the need for our support and provide the lifeline that helps people get back on their feet.

Meeting this demand however will be expensive. Like many charities, the cancelation or postponement of our fundraising activities due to coronavirus will result in a drop in our donations, causing a significant impact on the support we can offer. Now, more than ever before, we are asking for your help.

- Just £3 could cover the costs of producing downloadable self-help guides to help people support themselves.

- £15 could allow us to support 5 more people on our new coronavirus helpline each day. With our trained staff giving immediate advice on how someone could keep well and helping them to access additional services.

- £20 could allow us to provide an hour and a half long online support group helping people connect to each other and share experiences.
