Rush Limbaugh, who has died at the age of 70, was the most popular talk radio host in the United States and liked to boast that his rabble-rousing fire-and-brimstone tirades made him the most dangerous man in America.

His listeners tuned in for a non-stop torrent of outrage on topics of the hour, a megawatt rant of offensiveness seasoned with Limbaugh’s often coarse humour.
