In the wake of the coronavirus and the new practice of social distancing that some of us love and hate, it can be hard for some of us to get used to being indoors and limiting ourselves to our living spaces. Here are some tips on how to make staying in actually fun.

Organize the Room You Spend the Most Time In!

It’s essential to make sure that your favorite room is in a condition that makes you comfortable. If the room is cluttered and messy, it could just feel overwhelming and put a damper on your mood. Take some time to organize the room and clean up. It’s not only helpful but it’ll also make you feel super accomplished when you see everything that you picked up.

You Can Still Do What You Love!

I know it’s challenging to go outside now to do what you love, but you can still enjoy some of those activities in the comfort of your own home. Switch out a trip to the movies for a movie night on Netflix, Hulu, or Disney Plus. Order some takeout from one of your favorite local restaurants. Do some online shopping! Your favorite stores are still ready to take your money. Remember that you still have digital access to some things you know and love.

Work Out!

When I work out, I feel like it helps relieve a lot of stress, and it changes my mood dramatically. I would recommend trying a workout, whether it’s super intense or just a small way to get the heart pumping. It’ll help you take your mind off of what’s going on and get a start on your summer body. If you don’t have any workout equipment or machines, you can look up at-home workouts on Pinterest or YouTube that’ll make you break a sweat!

Call Your Friends and Family.

Humans, by nature, are social creatures. We thrive off of social interactions, and sometimes it’s what helps keep us sane. In a time like this, it’s important to keep in touch with our loved ones. Whether it’s a 5-minute phone call or a lengthy FaceTime, one conversation can go a long way. Try to arrange a schedule where you can spend one day chatting with a group of friends, another talking to your grandparents, and maybe another to talk to that special someone. If FaceTime doesn’t work for you, try Zoom or Skype. There are many applications out there that can help you connect with your loved ones.

Practice Self-Care.

It’s important to take care of yourself, especially in situations where you feel like you can’t. Take some time to pamper yourself and do things that make you feel good. Read your favorite book, indulge in a sweet dessert, do a multi-step face routine, journal throughout the day, or anything you desire. Sometimes you need to take a step back from all the work that you do and think about looking after yourself.

During quarantine, it’s difficult to stay home and ignore the itch to go out and hang out with anyone and everyone. For the safety of ourselves and others, we need to practice social distancing. To make this period of quarantining a little less stressful, try to find ways to learn how to love staying in.
