I am proud to represent women and the field of tech across research, government, and academia. I am a connector and collaborator, focused on communications and lobbying, specifically in developing the relationships that bring about large, successful projects in HPC. This has resulted in some incredible opportunities for me. Not only have I been a part of building up the people and funding that fuel scientific advancement, but I’ve been a strong advocate for computational research in the United States on Capitol Hill. I’ve had a great career working with Federal science and research funding agencies and Congress for over 20 years, including working with the people at NSF, DoD, USDA, NIH, DoE Science, NASA, and DoEd. Today, I am the Director of Outreach and Communications on the Executive Board for Women in HPC, and a marketing & communications consultant for the Purdue University Rosen Center for Advanced Computing. I use design theory as a career coach to women who have a keen desire to make a difference in the world of HPC and technology. I am a certified Google #IAmRemarkable facilitator, leading workshops to empower women and underrepresented groups to speak openly about achievements and success. I am also a co-founder of the Additive Manufacturing Coalition, where I advocate and educate Congress and other decision makers about the 3D printing industry. Most importantly, I am a mother to two amazing teenagers, who are really neat people. My name is Lisa Arafune, MBA, and I am an Executive, a Science Lobbying Professional, a STEM Career Coach, a Speaker, and an Entrepreneur. #iamhpc #whm2023 Lisa Arafune
