Coach Jim Rapp Among 2025 ‘Hometown Heroes’ Honored by Interfaith of The Woodlands

Celebration of Excellence Gala on Feb. 28 to recognize community leaders

Interfaith of The Woodlands has announced Coach Jim Rapp, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at The Woodlands High School, as one of its 2025 Hometown Heroes. The prestigious honor is given annually to individuals and organizations in The Woodlands who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their community.

Rapp, along with five other honorees, will be recognized at the 2025 Celebration of Excellence Gala, set to take place on Feb. 28, 2025.


Sponsored by Woodforest National Bank, the Gala will be co-chaired by Julie Lile and Jen McDonald, with Mary Anne and Mark Whitney serving as honorary chairs. In addition to Coach Rapp, the 2025 Hometown Heroes include Cathy Brady, Jim Wendt, Nick Wolda, Truluck’s The Woodlands, and YES to YOUTH. Each honoree will receive an official Hometown Hero Medallion, recognizing their impactful work in making The Woodlands a thriving and supportive community.

Founded in 1999, the Hometown Heroes award celebrates individuals and organizations nominated by residents for their positive contributions to The Woodlands. Since its inception, 170 community members have been recognized for their dedication and service. Missy Herndon, President and CEO of Interfaith, praised this year’s honorees for their remarkable dedication. “These Heroes, nominated by our neighbors, have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and dedication to our community. We are thrilled to celebrate them at the Gala in February,” Herndon said.


Honoree Cathy Brady reflected on the legacy of The Woodlands, emphasizing its community-focused vision. “George Mitchell’s beautiful plan for The Woodlands continues to make this a welcoming community to live and work,” Brady shared. “Since 1994, the residents have been and continue to be in control. That’s worth preserving, that’s definitely worth fighting to protect.”
