Oscars 2024 Odds: Will Oppenheimer Win Best Picture?

The Oscars 2024 odds are highlighted by the biggest hit films of last year. The 96th Academy Awards are scheduled for March 10th, so you have just under a month to place your wagers for the award ceremony.

You can bet on the Oscars online at any time up until the ceremony starts. Many of the top sites even offer mobile and live betting options. So, you can wager from your phone or other mobile device using up-to-the-minute odds.

This guide will tell you the latest Academy Awards betting odds for the 2024 awards. Also, I will include my predictions for the biggest awards and tell you which sportsbook offers the best odds on this year’s ceremony.

Oscars 2024 Odds

Bovada Sportsbook is the place to be for entertainment betting this awards season. The site has 2024 Oscars odds on every major category. Here are some examples of awards you can bet on, and my predictions for the upcoming Academy Awards.

Best Actor Oscar Odds 2024

  • Cillian Murphy – Oppenheimer (-300)
  • Paul Giamatti – The Holdovers (+200)
  • Bradley Cooper – Maestro (+1100)
  • Colman Domingo – Rustin (+5000)
  • Jeffrey Wright – American Fiction (+5000)

Starting off my list of the latest Academy Awards 2024 odds is the Best Actor category. Bovada has Cillian Murphy listed as a -300 favorite in this category for his work in Oppenheimer. Paul Giamatti (+200) is a close second for The Holdovers.

Bradley Cooper (+1100) is a distant third, with Colman Domingo and Jeffrey Wright rounding out the group at +5000 each. All the nominees are talented actors, but I believe Murphy is the best option.

Murphy already won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama for this role. The movie itself is a heavy favorite to win Best Picture, too. I would bet on Murphy now before his odds shorten even more.

Giamatti is the clear choice if you want to bet against the favorite. The Holdovers is one of the only films putting pressure on Oppenheimer in most categories. Giamatti’s +200 odds are not as potentially rewarding as the other underdogs, but he does have the most realistic chance to upset Murphy in this category.

Best Actress Oscars 2024 Odds

  • Emma Stone – Poor Things (-160)
  • Lily Gladstone- Killers of the Flower Moon (+110)
  • Sandra Huller – Anatomy of a Fall (+1400)
  • Carey Mulligan – Maestro (+2500)
  • Annette Bening – Nyad (+4000)

The race for Best Actress is much closer than the Best Actor Oscar betting odds. Emma Stone (-160) is a slight favorite for her performance in Poor Things. Killers of the Flower Moon actress Lily Gladstone is a close second at +110.

The odds fall off significantly after the top two. Sandra Huller (+1400) has the third-best odds for her performance in Anatomy of a Fall. Carey Mulligan (+2500) and Annette Bening round out the category for Maestro and Nyad, respectively.

This award will likely come down to one of the two favorites. Both Stone and Gladstone won Golden Globes for their films in their respective categories. Stone has one Oscar win in three previous nominations, and this is Gladstone’s first nomination for the award.

Of the two, I would go with Gladstone to win the Oscar. Huller is another interesting prospect at +1400 odds, but she lost to Gladstone at the Golden Globes earlier this year. I think that Gladstone will claim another award for her performance at the Academy Awards.

Prediction:

Best Supporting Actor Odds

  • Robert Downey, Jr – Oppenheimer (-1000)
  • Ryan Gosling – Barbie (+700)
  • Robert De Niro – Killers of the Flower Moon (+1600)
  • Mark Ruffalo – Poor Things (+1800)
  • Sterling K Brown – American Fiction (+2200)

Another category dominated by Oppenheimer’s stars is Best Supporting Actor. Robert Downey, Jr., who portrayed Lewis Strauss in the film, is listed as a -1000 favorite in the latest Oscars 2024 odds to win this award.

The actor with the second-best real money odds for this award is Ryan Gosling, who played Ken in Barbie. Gosling is listed at +700, but he feels like an unlikely candidate to upset Downey. Margot Robbie, who starred in the film, is not up for Best Actress and Barbie is a longshot to win Best Picture.

If I had to pick an underdog for this category, I would choose Robert De Niro (+1600) or Mark Ruffalo (+1800). Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things both received more critical acclaim than Barbie.

I do think that Downey will win this category, but his -1000 odds do not offer a lot of value. To combat this, I suggest betting double or even triple your normal stake amount. Increasing your stake will help to increase your payout if and when the heavy favorite wins.

Best Supporting Actress 2024 Oscars Odds

  • Da’Vine Joy Randolph – The Holdovers (-2000)
  • Danielle Brooks – The Color Purple (+1100)
  • Emily Blunt – Oppenheimer (+1200)
  • America Ferrera – Barbie (+2200)
  • Jodie Foster – Nyad (+2800)

The odds for Best Supporting Actress also have a heavy favorite. Da’Vine Joy Randolph is listed at -2000 to win the award for her appearance in The Holdovers. The next closest nominee is Danielle Brooks who is listed at +1100.

Randolph has already won multiple supporting actress awards for this role, including a Golden Globe. It is unlikely that anyone will pull off the upset at the Academy Awards

The other candidates are all listed at 11-1 or longer. So, you could place a small bet on any of the other actresses up for this award and still get a sizeable payout. However, I would stick with Randolph and increase my wager to offset the low payout odds.

Oscar Best Picture Odds 2024

  • Oppenheimer (-1000)
  • Poor Things (+1200)
  • The Holdovers (+1400)
  • The Zone of Interest (+2800)
  • Anatomy of a Fall (+3000)
  • Barbie (+3000)
  • American Fiction (+6500)
  • Killers of the Flower Moon (+6500)
  • Past Lives (+6500)
  • Maestro (+10000)

There are 10 films nominated for Best Picture at this year’s Oscars. Oppenheimer (-1000) is by far the favorite in the current Academy Awards 2024 odds.

No other film has better than 10-1 odds to win this award. The closest is Poor Things, which is listed at +1200 to win Best Picture. Another relatively close candidate is The Holdovers at +1400.

The other seven films are all listed at 28-1 or longer odds of claiming the Best Picture Oscar. Like many other categories, I think Oppenheimer is the best bet here.

Oppenheimer is up for over a dozen Academy Awards, including Best Original Score, Best Production Design, and Best Editing. All of those factors contribute to the film’s popularity and critical acclaim.

I doubt that Oppenheimer and its cast and crew will win all of the Oscars they are nominated for. However, I would not bet against the film in the major awards it is competing for, including Best Picture.

Best Original Song, Best Animated Feature, and Best Documentary Short are three categories where I believe we will see upsets at the Academy Awards. “What Was I Made For?” is listed at -600 to win Best Original Song, but it could be upset, again, by “I’m Just Ken” (+400). Both movies are from Barbie, and “I’m Just Ken” won in surprising fashion at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

The Boy and the Heron (+135) could also pull off an upset in the Best Animated Feature category. It won Best Animated Feature Film at the Golden Globes, beating out Spider-Man: Across the Sider-Verse (-190).

I would also bet on The Last Repair Shop (+200), which has the second-best odds in the Best Documentary Short category. The ABCs of Book Burning (-150) is the favorite in this category. However, The Last Repair Shop won in a similar category at the Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards last November.
