Football Ontario Announces Football Weekend in Ontario

The Inaugural Football Weekend in Ontario to be held November 24-26

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario has announced the inaugural Football weekend in Ontario. The event will be held November 24th to November 26th and will be hosted in London at Western University.

The organization is excited to showcase all of the football talents and minds this province has participating or competing in the sport.

The highlights of the weekend include the inaugural Canadian Collegiate Women’s Flag Showcase, the Football Ontario Coaching Mega Clinic, the Football Ontario Hall of Fame 2022 Class Induction, the Football Canada 1st Down ‘Try Football Day’, as well as the Vanier Cup Championship Game.

“Football Ontario and the host committee are endeavouring to make sure that this event represents a celebration of all football across the province. Football Ontario, as the largest provincial football organization in Canada, is constantly looking for ways to create a more diverse sporting environment that promotes inclusivity at all levels! This event will be a showcase of football programming at all ages and levels in a celebration of our sport” says Aaron Geisler, Executive Director of Football Ontario.

The Canadian Collegiate Women’s Flag Showcase will host twelve women’s flag football teams, from both Ontario and Quebec, all competing in a single day tournament to be held on Friday, November 25th.

“Football is for all. On a collegiate stage, we are now building opportunities for not just men, but also women – true allyship. The CCWF Showcase is THE FIRST national women’s football event that is recognized and celebrated in conjunction with a university sport title event, the Vanier Cup. We want to finally promote, showcase, and celebrate women in collegiate flag football on a greater stage. More importantly, we want young girls and football fans to see the athleticism and level of play women have to offer in the collegiate space.” says Olivia Ghosh-Swaby, Executive Director of OWIFA.

The Football Ontario Coaching Mega Clinic will be making a return after a successful inaugural 2021 clinic as well as partnering to run the 2022 High School Coaching Clinic. The Mega Clinic will span 3 days (Thursday, November 24 – Saturday, November 26) with both virtual and in-person opportunities. Each registrant will also receive a ticket to the 2022 Vanier Cup.
