Every community has Indigenous knowledge, cultural heritage and way of living to adapt to changes in life and livelihood. However, this adjustment/adaptation may not be adequate or appropriate considering the volume of hazards and/or lack of ability to address them. This session will identify how various indigenous practices can be extracted to blend with new knowledge to strengthen adaptation and resilience. In addition, we will highlight the importance of learning local stories and identify the reasons behind an investment in them. These two elements have been well managed in several communities by applying locally-led approaches. This session will also present some poetry and talks to realize the rhythm of local voice and local action through the pathway of indigenous knowledge and heritage.
