Experience Guatemala at The Wharf

The Mayor’s Office of Latino Affairs and the U.S. Embassy of Guatemala invite you to join in on their celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Attendees will not only learn about Guatemalan culture but will get a taste of it as well! The event will take place at ​​The Wharf in DC from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days, and is free and open to anyone who wants to celebrate. More information can be found here.

Homecoming at President Lincoln’s Cottage

Calling all athletes, family, friends, and the Petworth community! Join President Lincoln’s Cottage for a three-part Homecoming celebration. A morning Freedom 5K starting at 9 am offers runners a chance to see the Armed Forces Retirement Home, followed by a free Family Day including pony rides, games, activities and more at 10 a.m. The homecoming festivities will wrap up with a live performance from the Petworth Jazz Project from 3-6 p.m. More information and tickets can be found here.

Smithsonian Magazine’s Annual Museum Day

Join Smithsonian Magazine for its 18th annual Museum Day! The theme for this year is The American Experience, which will include art, culture, and history exhibits of the United States. Visitors from all around the nation show a free museum day ticket reserved online to enter free. Participating museums include the following in DC: Dumbarton House (open from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.), the National Museum of American History (open 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum (open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and the United States Botanic Garden (open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) More information and tickets can be found here.

 

Sept. 17-25 (Fridays – Sundays only)

Camelot at Gaithersburg Arts Barn

Young King Arthur hopes to create a kingdom of honor and dignity with the help of his Knights of the Round Table. Join the Gaithersburg community for a night of entertaining theater. Camelot will be performed live at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn, and is best suited for ages 12 and older. Shows on Fridays and Saturdays begin at 8 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. while Sunday shows run from 2-4 p.m. Tickets range from $15-$24 and can be purchased here.
