Learn from the Greats of the Past: Pillsbury-Lasker, 1904 by GM Nadezhda Kosintseva
In this lecture, I will show you a dynamic game of Harry Pillsbury - one of the leading American chess players of the past. He significantly enhanced the theory of the Queen's Gambit and proved that closed openings can be as dynamic and energetic as 1.e4 positions are. In the analyzed game Pillsbury sacrificed a pawn for a lead in development and then vigorously used the potential of every piece to create a significant pressure on the enemy camp that his opponent could not overcome. A truly great example to illustrate the importance of piece coordination in the game!
