More than a year after spinning out from Allina Health, Inbound Health raised $30 million and plans to launch its at-home care platform into other markets in the coming months.

Health systems are increasingly utilizing the home as a site of care, according to an announcement from Inbound, and the Minneapolis-based startup’s platform creates those pathways to provide at-home care for patients. Inbound's Series B funding round, announced Wednesday, was led by HealthQuest Capital with participation from existing investors Flare Capital Partners and McKesson Ventures.

The funds will help Inbound expand into new markets while advancing some key growth initiatives, like further development of its clinical programs and the continued build-out of assets focused on supply chain, labor and logistics.

Inbound has helped treat more than 6,500 patients across 350 disease states, said CEO Dave Kerwar. Talks are underway with health systems around the country and Inbound will be launching into some new systems outside of Minnesota in the near future.

Its platform allows health systems to offer acute and post-acute care in the home. Inbound notes in a news release that the model can decrease readmission rates and lower avoidable complication rates, all leading to a reduced total cost of care.

Inbound spun out of Allina Health in June of last year with the help of Flare Capital Partners, a Boston-based health care-technology venture capital firm. Inbound’s platform has operated within the Allina Health system since 2020. A $20 million Series A financing round followed the spinout.

Allina held an ownership stake in the company after the spin out, but Kerwar said he couldn’t discuss current ownership stakes. He added that the relationship with Allina remains very strong from a commercial perspective.

When it was spun out, Inbound spent a year evolving its capabilities and optimizing for different care models. Now that model can be brought to other systems and markets across the country, Kerwar said.
